For one day only…
...we're staging a Latin takeover on Jazz FM!
Throughout Bank Holiday Monday 7 May, Journey Latin America and Jazz will be bringing you a Fiesta Latina of non-stop Latin American musical beats, from salsa and samba all the way through bossa nova, tango, cumbia, merengue and forró.
And listeners will even have the chance to win a luxury holiday for two to Cuba, worth £5,000. With flights and transfers included, we'll treat the winners to an unforgettable stay in Ernest Hemmingway’s former haunt Havana, followed by the cobbled streets of Trinidad and the unique limestone hill scenery around Viñales.
Six Journey Latin America regional specialists will also be there to share their insider travel tips and guide us through six incredible Latin American destinations along with each country's rich musical heritage. The journey will take us through Cuba, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Colombia and Mexico.
What's more, the day will be advert-free, leaving even more time to focus on the music.
As you know, we absolutely love Latin American music, so we were delighted to find fellow fanatics at Jazz FM, where the producers couldn't wait to celebrate the extraordinarily diverse and vibrant outpourings of Central and South America's influential music scene.
Jazz FM Programme Controller, Mike Vitti, says, "It’s the first time that Jazz FM has completely altered the output in favour of one genre of music. It seems the right thing to do, it’s exciting, dynamic and ideal for a Bank Holiday Monday.'
Jazz FM Director of Sales, Jo Coltman, says, “Our listeners are avid travellers, and the Fiesta Latina line-up this May Bank Holiday is a wonderful opportunity to give our listeners something special – a whole day where they can immerse themselves in the sounds, sights and tastes of Latin America.”
Likewise we’re thrilled to be part of this special one-off radio event, and pleased that we can offer Jazz FM listeners a glimpse into Latin American music, culture and cuisine like never before. Tailor-made holidays are our speciality, so this completely tailor-made programme of Latin-focused features and music is a great match for us.
We really hope you will join us in tuning in on Bank Holiday Monday to enjoy all the tantalising sounds from our favourite part of the world. There are many ways to listen in: either listen on DAB Digital Radio, Sky channel 0202, Freesat channel 729, or tune in live at jazzfm.com
