Customer Service Consultant

We are currently looking to recruit a highly-motivated customer services consultant to join a department which deals with the processing of all customer feedback, including the analysis of data from client questionnaires together with the handling of any disputes with clients and/or suppliers. The department takes a central role in ensuring a consistently high level of customer service across all departments, reflecting the qualities and values of Journey Latin America, and providing strategic feedback for the development of the company and its products.

Duties and Responsibilities
The primary role will be to provide support to the department manager in dealing with all customer feedback. It is anticipated that approximately 50% of the role will comprise of administrative tasks including:
• Organising customer comments and reviews for the website
• Managing the distribution of all customer questionnaires
• Organising and distributing relevant customer information internally, to support the sales, marketing and product functions
• Processing statistical information
• Assisting with the production of management reporting and information

Additionally, you will also manage your own portfolio of customer feedback, acknowledging, investigating and responding to customers as appropriate. This will entail:
• Ensuring all feedback and complaints are handled in a timely, efficient and courteous manner
• Investigating and assessing the issues raised and any associated claims
• Liaising with Latin American suppliers and staff
• Keeping accurate records of discussions and correspondence with customers and suppliers
• To contribute pro-actively to the ongoing development of systems and procedures for collating, responding to and disseminating customer feedback.
• Maintaining a detailed knowledge of the company’s products and services
• Highlighting recurring problems to the department manager with suggestions to minimise the frequency of repeated incidents.

Essential skills
• Experience of travel within Latin America is essential
• Previous customer services experience useful but not essential
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• High accuracy and strong attention to detail
• A good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Ability to work well under own initiative and to tight timescales
• Ability to effectively manage customer correspondence and feedback in a positive, professional and enthusiastic manner
• Ability to manage potentially difficult clients with tact and diplomacy
• A genuine desire to meet and exceed customer expectations and maintain integrity in all situations

Do you have what it takes to be a tour leader?

Tour leading is a 24/7 role and whilst each day will bring a new and often incredible experience, you must also be prepared to deal with the challenges that undoubtedly will arise when trying to lead a group holiday.  Consequently, to apply for this work we require the following:

  • A desire to work with people
  • Proven or potential ability to deal with groups confidently
  • A diplomatic temperament
  • Good organisational skills
  • Fluent Spanish and/or Portuguese
  • Good recent ground knowledge of at least 5 Latin American countries, based on personal independent travel
  • A professional attitude to the execution of the tasks in hand
  • A sense of fun
  • Able to spend a minimum of 6 months abroad at a time

Good knowledge & extensive travel experience of Latin America (with a minimum of 3 countries visited)

An aptitude for sales & excellent interpersonal skills, both on the phone and face-to-face

Excellent organisational and computer skills

Fluent English. Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred

Ability to work as part of an enthusiastic team and on your own initiative
