0 1

Unique and eclectic small hotel in a lovingly restored colonial property, offering a warm, friendly atmosphere and attentive service that goes well beyond the expectations of its category.

The small, well-loved Posada Casa Sol is charmingly eclectic and unique, boasting a colourful collection of art, murals, mosaics, stained glass and sculptures which vividly demonstrates the care put into its design by the Swiss owners. Another attentive touch is how the layout has been engineered to provide a cool breeze flowing throughout the restored colonial property. Its location puts it just a stroll away from Mérida's main areas of interest and offers views of the Andes  rising up on all sides.

Almost like a boutique hotel rather than a humble posada, its 16 simple rooms are individually decorated and set around several small patios which brim with greenery. Some have balconies overlooking these lovely plant-filled spaces. There are also plenty of communal areas in which to relax, and a vibrantly decorated dining room where a very satisfying breakfast is served each morning. The ambiance, fostered by the exceptionally warm and helpful staff, is something of a mixture between tranquillity and a friendly, sociable vibe that disarms you the moment you step inside.

Good hotel in pleasant part of Merida. Spacious room and nice breakfast in courtyard. Some noise from other guests and from outside overnight.
