Homely, welcoming estancia offering the chance to experience rural life on a working ranch in the Uruguayan countryside.

The peaceful family-owned Estancia el Charabon, located around 20 minutes' drive inland from the coastline and surrounded by hills, offers the chance to unwind and experience rural Uruguayan life. The vast estate encompasses open fields, meadows, forest and streams, and even comes complete with wandering peacocks. The atmosphere is welcoming, sociable and informal.

The estancia is on a working ranch, and you’re welcome to participate in the life of the farm as well as to enjoy riding in the countryside that surrounds you. However it’s also a wonderful place just to relax, or to use as a base for countryside walks exploring some of Uruguay's wilder stretches of coast around Cabo Polonio.

Each of the nine guestrooms is individually decorated, homely and comfortable. Many of the antiques have been brought back to Uruguay by its Anglophile owners, Jorge and Graciela, and paintings by Graciela adorn every room. There is also a good restaurant serving home-cooked food, an English-style bar and an attractive outdoor terrace and swimming pool.
