Climb Huayna Picchu
Ascend the peak behind Machu Picchu to look down on the ruins from a unique perspective.
Forming the mountain backdrop to that iconic picture-postcard view, Huayna Picchu is the instantly recognisable triangular peak behind Machu Picchu. It's a steep climb to the top via a narrow stepped path, but those up to the challenge get to savour a view of the ruins from a vantage point only reached by a privileged few. You have to book in to do the climb, there are a couple of slots per day, so that ascenders and descenders don't form a bottle neck.
