New boutique hotel on the site of a former market, blending original features with a stylish contemporary aesthetic and judicious use of bold colours.
The El Mercado boutique hotel occupying a former market is owned and operated by one of Peru's luxury trekking specialists, who pride themselves on their impeccable service and warm hospitality. As the building's previous incarnation would suggest, there's plenty of outdoor space, including an impressive courtyard where vendors' stalls have been replaced by relaxing outdoor seating and the bustle of trade by an air of calm.
Inside, the hotel is a sophisticated and welcoming blend of original features and a stylish modern aesthetic. From the carved stone columns and original brickwork to the judicious use of bold colour, the attention to detail is visible in every aspect of its design.
Guestrooms and suites have a full range of modern amenities, with the romantic addition of open plan bathrooms, some with tubs which can be screened off with linen curtains. There is also a contemporary diner-style breakfast area, restaurant, coffee shop, bar and lounge, and a terrace with marvellous views over Cusco's terracotta-tiled rooftops.
What our clients say
97% of our clients rated their experience with us as Excellent or Good.
Lovely hotel In a great location. Again the street facing rooms are really noisy, especially on a Friday/Saturday night as the locals party hard and regularly let off fire crackers between 1am & 4am! Our return visit to this hotel we had a triple room at the back which was wonderfully quiet and comfortable. Overall, the only bad nights we had were because our rooms were street facing.CB, Sandwich

"We enjoyed this hotel. great environment and good service. Breakfast was excellent but we only had it once in 3 nights stay because of the 4 AM starts."JG, Torquay
"Terrific central base to explore Cusco (or Qosqo as I was told is. It's real Quechan name). Felt very friendly and secure. Lovely courtyard with complimentary teas/coffees at any time. And thoughtfully designed rooms with everything you might need. Probably my favourite hotel of the three, because of the general ambiance, decor and design."TL,Royston
