Casa Hacienda San Juan
Casa Hacienda San Juan is a working ranch and dairy farm welcoming guests in the fertile mountain valleys of remote Andean Peru.
The Hacienda San Juan de Pillo is a Spanish colonial ranch close to the town of Pampas, reached via the scenic Mantaro Gorge but only accessible by 4WD. It’s a unique place to stay, and you can really feel a part of the life of the working farm, as well as participate in leisure activities such as horse riding, cycling and forest walks.
In common with other properties in this area of rich pasture, the welcoming ranch hosts a dairy farm and stables. There are many heavily tiled outbuildings surrounding the property’s own white-washed baroque church. Light floods in through floor to ceiling windows on to the ample lounges, stuffed with plump sofas, and the restaurant. A bar and log fire give the place a cosy feel on chilly nights.
There are 22 guest rooms including some dormitories with bunk beds. All have private facilities.
What our clients say
97% of our clients rated their experience with us as Excellent or Good.
“The most enjoyable… Having chocolate pancakes in the narrow cobbled streets of Cusco. And in the mountain village of Aguas Calientas. And in lots of other places. The kids having fun with the cats at the cat park of Lima. Meeting a mountain family and finding out about their way of life. This included meeting their guinea pigs – kept purely for their meat.”LBM, South Africa
Colca canyon really exceeded expectations and we hadn't been aware of this destination prior to arranging the trip.JA, Staines-upon-thames
We love Peru and the people every time we go back it is a memorable experience.JL, Cobham
It was memorable because of the cultural and geographical variety so can't pick out particular part. We were in 3 different climates, in mountains, jungle and coast. Probably enjoyed the places where we had most interactions with nature i.e. Lake Titicaca and jungle.SL,
It was all good and every location was special so cannot choose one in particular.BC, Beckenham

There were so many highlights, but Machu Picchu and climbing Huana Picchu and the whole Galapagos trip are the most memorable.GJ, Richmond
"Obviously Machu Pichu was a highlight but Ollaytaytambo was impressive, Chinchero was lovely and Cusco was fantastic [we're looking into buying a house there!] the Vistadome, particularly with the staff on the return journey to Cusco, who put on a fashion show, music and dancing for us, which they genuinely seemed to enjoy too, was fantastic. I'd also really recommend Huaco Pacllano in Lima - I'd never seen a site like it before."SAG, Hythe
We had a private tour, which we think was the best way to do this sort of trip. Although we had only 9 days in Peru in the Cuzco area, we managed to cover an extensive amount of material in depth and the whole trip was unforgettable. The local organisation was superb - punctual, knowledgeable, reliable, etc.PS, Reading
