Jumping off from the Panama Canal, this really is a journey of discovery, revealing the highlights of 6 countries crammed into the isthmus linking Mexico with South America. Crowned by a chain of volcanoes, dotted with twinkling lakes, defined with coral beaches, blessed with a balmy mix of tropical and temperate climate, and punctuated with lively indigenous villages, Mayan ruins and impressive colonial towns, these lands offer a breathtaking experience for visitors.
The area is especially rich in its biodiversity, and extensive national parks have been established in the sultry rainforests, along the sparkling coastline and across the rocky mountain slopes, where profuse wildlife can be observed in its natural habitat. Explore some delightful towns, hike, ride, raft, shop, snorkel; there is something here to indulge every enthusiasm.

What our clients say
97% of our clients rated their experience with us as Excellent or Good.
Alcion was an excellent trip with a superb tour leader who enabled us to to understand and appreciate each country and place we visited even though packing in six countries. A great way to see and experience Central America.AME, Cardiff
The tour leader was excellent as was the whole experience, especially the exciting optional excursions, kayaking, horse riding, zip linings, snorkelling and many interesting walks.MG, Glasgow
Crossing the first border from Panama to Costa Rica felt like being part of a film set as we trudged across an ancient bridge. Also in Ometepe we were swimming in the fresh water lake when a group of horses came cantering onto the beach and into the water for a drunk and swim!LR, Carteton
Amazing enjoyed every minute i don't usually do group tours and rather travel independently but journey Latin America has changed my mind.SJ, Jersey
This was our third trip with JLA - all of them excellent. Alcion is a fantastic tour - to experience 6 countries in 3 weeks was something we could never do on our own. Our guide was outstanding, the itinerary was superb - the whole trip was something we will always remember.AT, London
The Central American trip was excellent - really interesting to see the contrast in the countries. Could have spent longer in each country, but then that would have made the trip much longer!PG, Winchester
We enjoyed the entire holiday and it's hard to pick out a highlight. Watching a dozen scarlet macaws fly over the Copan ruins was a sight we will never forget.SW, Great Missenden
It is hard to choose one particular part of the trip as it was all amazing but in different ways. One of the most memorable parts was the few days in Suchitoto, El Salvador and the optional town tour. Listening to the experiences of the people in the area was humbling.MF, London
The Alcion Tour is a an excellent trip to take if you want to travel to the less travelled countries in Central America. The tour covers all the essential sites but it is the colours and flavours of the cities and towns you visit and the warmth and kindness of the people, particularly in Nicaragua, El Salvador and Honduras, that really make this a wonderful trip. There are some long journeys but it is a real opportunity to see life as it is lived by the locals. Visit beautiful islands, see amazing wildlife, try fabulous local food and enjoy these wonderful countries. It's an adventure and an experience.CP, London
I enjoyed the mountain scenery and also walking in the forests. Watching a ship passing through the lock on the Panama Canal. Zip lining and the Tarzan swing was a good adrenelin rush.RL, Devizes
Visiting 6 countries in 3 weeks is an incredible assault on the senses. Volcanoes, pre-columbian history, Spanish influences, the distinct colours of different countries, friendly people, amazing vegetation and exotic birds and animals.HF, Maidstone
I think that given the 3 week length and fitting in 6 countries will always mean that it is a very 'busy' tour and I think it is important to realise that it is a taster of each of the 6 countries. Any one of them could easily justify a longer stay. But a lot of people could not be away for a longer period of time. I am extremely happy to have visited each of the 6 countries. An unforgettable trip.
The 6 countries in Central America we visited all have a unique and distinctive culture, geography and atmosphere. This trip has created an incredible experience which brings a warm smile whichever of the many aspects I remember.
I had a brilliant trip. The experiences were varied the people great company and the tour leader exceptional. What’s not to love!HL, Newcastle
So many things - wonderful birds, Leon was very interesting, Copan was fascinating. This is our 4th trip with JLA and we have never been disappointed.LP, Honiton
An exceptional trip which really gave us a feel for the countries we visited. A special mention should go to our tour leader - he was outstanding.EJ, Chorley
A really interesting, varied and contrasting tour encapsulating the spirit and culture of the region. Excellent value and made even more enjoyable by a fantastic tour guide.RG, Bishopton
The Alcion 3-week road journey combines the highlights of six Central American countries. A colourful medley of dramatic landscapes where active volcanoes tower over farmlands, lakes and steamy jungles. The stories about Mayan Empires, pirates and banana republics continue to fascinate me.
