Quinta Real Puebla
Beautifully restored convent, now luxury hotel. The tone is set by rich hues and antique details, and two elegant courtyards provide light and space.
The Quinta Real in Puebla, formerly a convent, took five years to rebuild from dereliction and today its frescoes and courtyards are exquisitely restored. The centrepiece is a huge courtyard, with a second smaller courtyard ringed by an unusual double layer of arches – particularly atmospheric by night.
The hotel and its rooms are decorated in beautifully rich Mexican reds and deep ochres. In reception there is a monolithic door carved from a single piece of volcanic rock, while chandeliers and heavy oak furniture blend perfectly with the historic ambience. There are three palatial suites, one of which is housed within the former chapel.
