Most Memorable Moment?: The awesome encounter with a grey whale mother and calf.

JLA definitely know the Latin American market and we have been very satisfied with both the tailor made and small group tour options. Mexico, like other Latin American countries, does not have the same standards of hygiene and accommodation as we are used to in the UK. Travellers should be prepared for and accept this. We felt that JLA had done all they could to ensure that accommodation was of a good standard and that the tour ran smoothly and would have no hesitation in travelling with them again.

Mexico is such an interesting country, very diverse. I recommend to read a good guide that could give an overview of the history of Mexico and don't miss the Museum of Anttopology if it is intended to visit the arqueological sites. For those interested in the political history of Mexico, it is a must to see 'the muralistas' e.g Diego Rivera, Siquieros, Tamayo and Orosco

Specific memorable event: Having climbed up the large pyramid at the Mayan site, within the Calakmul biospere, not only did we love the impressive view across the tree canopy, but we were greeted by the amazing sound of 3 groups of howler monkeys calling to each other across the tree tops. The birdlife there was also wondeful to see.  Overall memorable part: the Mexican people - genuinely friendly, helpful and patient.

Highlights: We went to a small nature reserve (Copalita) near to our hotel in Hualtuco that was really lovely, teaming with wildlife. Monte Alban was very impressive as well.

Most memorable experiences: "Visiting our parents' house in Lomas de Chapultepec. Francisco persuaded the owners that we were genuine, which was quite an achievement. In sightseeing terms it is difficult to compare, for instance, the domestic and artistic life of Frieda Kahlo with the pyramids of Teotihuacan! We chose to go to all the places on our itinerary and all of them were memorable. Perhaps Monte Alban was the most mind blowing because I had no particular expectations of it, unlike Chichen Itza of which I had seen many pictures."

“It's impossible to pick any individual aspect; but a number of experiences stood out: the visit to the "voodoo" church at St Juan Chamula (extraordinary and unexpected), the visit to the shrine of the Madonna of Guadalupe on the way to Teotihuacan in Mexico City (similar, and helped understand Mexican history), Palenque (the most beautiful and atmospheric of the pre-hispanic sites), and swimming in the three cenotes at Cuzama near Mérida, which we arranged ourselves.”

Highlights?: Probably seeing the Diego Rivera murals in Mexico City although it is hard to pick out as there were so many moments that we loved. A boat trip on the lake of Bacalar was also amazing.

All of the tour guide experiences were memorable and we loved Mexico city. There was so much to see and do in such a short week. I would love to do it again, but over a two week period and over the winter months.

There were many highlights: the beautiful beach on our first morning in Cancun, the boat ride among the flamingos at Celestun, the sight of the Magicians Pyramid at Uxmal and the climb up the Great Pyramid there ( although not the descent, which was very vertiginous!). We loved the city of Merida, and having a Sunday at leisure there was very well planned by Sophie. We walked the Paseo de Montejo, open only to bikes and pedestrians, visited the Museum of Anthropology, then had a late lunch in Santa Lucia park watching the locals dancing. Later we watched them again in the evening dancing opposite the Cathedral in Plaza Mayor. Great fun, we loved it all. We also has a fantastic visit to Ek Balam on our way to Tulum, which was one on our Mayan Archeological highlights.

Oaxaca and Mexico City were the high spots for us. We found the Mexicans we met to be welcoming and helpful. We ate some amazing foot in Oaxaca where we also loved the botanical gardens. We loved learning about the history, architecture, politics and culture of this fascinating country.
