Camp Cecil offers magical glamping on Espiritu Santo Island in Baja California.
The Island of Santo Espiritu off the coast of Baja California is a protected wilderness, virtually uninhabited, glorying in its natural state. But on one of its beautiful white-sand beaches permission was granted for a luxury camp, Camp Cecil, which has minimal impact on the pristine environment while offering comfort and tranquillity to its guests.
The romantic camp’s spacious walk-in tents feature proper beds smothered in crisp linens; bedside tables and rugs and chairs compose a homely feel, while indispensable amenities such as beach towels are provided.. Meals are taken in the on-site café, where the resident chef prepares meals with fresh ingredients, and facilitates an agreeable Happy Hour which has you sipping home-made cocktails as the tangerine sun sets over the ocean. Thus encourages to commune with nature, you can wake up next morning to a yoga class as the dawn breaks over a turquoise sea.

"Mayan sites were really fantastic. Teotihuacan was excellent and Mildred was a very good guide. She enhanced the day."SP, London
Highlights?: The church in San Juan Chamula Visiting Tonina en route from San Cristobal to Palenque. A beautiful setting, only a handful of other visitors and complete freedom to roam.DW, Stone
Most Memorable Moment?: Lots of highlights but probably street food and archaeology in Mexico City, fiestas in Oaxaca, Hotel Esencia, cenotes and hacienda trip in Merida (and the hotel). We also found a great restaurant in SAN Christobal.KE, London
Most memorable aspect: “All the visits to temples and pyramids. With very knowledgeable and extremely pleasant guidesJB Wandsworth
"The tours provided were everything that we hoped, with the tour guides very good."GS, Rayleigh
Most Memorable Moment?: So many! Maybe the balloon ride?KFD, London
Most memorable experiences: "Visiting our parents' house in Lomas de Chapultepec. Francisco persuaded the owners that we were genuine, which was quite an achievement. In sightseeing terms it is difficult to compare, for instance, the domestic and artistic life of Frieda Kahlo with the pyramids of Teotihuacan! We chose to go to all the places on our itinerary and all of them were memorable. Perhaps Monte Alban was the most mind blowing because I had no particular expectations of it, unlike Chichen Itza of which I had seen many pictures."HG, Sherborne
"All of it was great so hard to pick out one thing. We had a lovely mix of ancient sites, modern art, great museums and time to relax. The Day of the Dead celebrations were the main reason for travelling to Mexico in Oct/Nov and, thanks to our guide, they fully met our expectations."FA, Edinburgh
Highlight?: Calakmul, its a long journey to get there ( 2 hours from Xpujil alone ) so plenty of anticipation, not busy and complete freedom to walk around as opposed to other sites. Did actually see some monkeys in the trees too.DB, Teddington
Visiting UxmalDS, Ware
We enjoyed every aspect of the trip. The Sumidero Canyon possibly stands out as the most memorable part. Spectacular.AP, Canterbury
Most Memorable Experience: The visits to sights and cities open our eyes to a culture that is underrated in Europe. Security is perceived as a problem in Mexico. Yes there is a noticeable police presence, in comparison with the UK, but we never felt threatenedMC
We thoroughly enjoyed everything about the holiday but were particularly impressed with the accommodation at the Hacienda VIP and the excursion to Uxmal and Kabah.SS, Liverpool
Highlights?: The serenity at Uxmal and the delightful city of OaxacaMF, London
My sister summed it up by saying that there was nothing that she would have changed, the holiday was perfect. Mexico was a delight, we had never been before, the people sincerely friendly and helpful, the service as great but everything exceeded expectations. My sister and the children thought that the cenotes were amazing as they were such a surprise but we loved it all.RN, Ascot
A trip into the Sian Kaan biosphere with a community based tour company was a beautiful way to celebrate a 14th birthday for one of our girls.</p>CL, Stafford
Most memorable experiences: "The Archeological sites, the friendly guides and amazing beach in Tulum."LS, Ruislip
The visit to Calakmul which was hard work but the reward of climbing the pyramids and seeing the jungle stretching in all directions will stay in the memory. This was followed the next day by a wonderful, and unexpected, half day at Laguna Bacular. We thought we were only going to be driving through on our way to Tulum. However we were treated to an extensive tour of the fortress there followed by a superb boat trip on the lagoon. It was the icing on the cake to a wonderful two days, with an excellent guide (Luis Alberto) and driver (Ivan).PH, Westcliff-on-sea
Highlights?: Hacienda Ticum and UxmalJS, Nantwich
Whale watching in San Jose Del CaboCS, Epsom
Most memorable experience: Going by fast boat on Usumcinta river to Yaxchilan where howler monkeys and a deserted site made an unforgettable impression. I could go on and on – it was all memorable!PH Victoria
All of the tour guide experiences were memorable and we loved Mexico city. There was so much to see and do in such a short week. I would love to do it again, but over a two week period and over the winter months.JR, Castle Douglas
Oaxaca and Mexico City were the high spots for us. We found the Mexicans we met to be welcoming and helpful. We ate some amazing foot in Oaxaca where we also loved the botanical gardens. We loved learning about the history, architecture, politics and culture of this fascinating country.DS, Tunbridge Wells
Highlights: We went to a small nature reserve (Copalita) near to our hotel in Hualtuco that was really lovely, teaming with wildlife. Monte Alban was very impressive as well.SP,
Visiting the Mayan villages outside San Christobal de las Casas.CM, Kingston upon thames
Highlight: The Visit to Chichen ItzaJL, London
Magical memories were created
"We feel as if we have a million magical memories that will last forever - sunsets over the Caribbean sea, ruins in the midst of the jungles, seas of pink flamingoes, crocodiles nestling on the banks of the Canyon Del Sumida. We were nervous as non Spanish speakers but we felt so supported without that horrible feeling of being over organized. Thank you again.”LH, Pinner
Specific memorable event: Having climbed up the large pyramid at the Mayan site, within the Calakmul biospere, not only did we love the impressive view across the tree canopy, but we were greeted by the amazing sound of 3 groups of howler monkeys calling to each other across the tree tops. The birdlife there was also wondeful to see. Overall memorable part: the Mexican people - genuinely friendly, helpful and patient.LG, St Albans
There were many highlights: the beautiful beach on our first morning in Cancun, the boat ride among the flamingos at Celestun, the sight of the Magicians Pyramid at Uxmal and the climb up the Great Pyramid there ( although not the descent, which was very vertiginous!). We loved the city of Merida, and having a Sunday at leisure there was very well planned by Sophie. We walked the Paseo de Montejo, open only to bikes and pedestrians, visited the Museum of Anthropology, then had a late lunch in Santa Lucia park watching the locals dancing. Later we watched them again in the evening dancing opposite the Cathedral in Plaza Mayor. Great fun, we loved it all. We also has a fantastic visit to Ek Balam on our way to Tulum, which was one on our Mayan Archeological highlights.AF, Merriott
