Iguazu Falls: Estancia Santa Cecilia

Visit Us

Estancia Santa Cecilia

The charming working Estancia Santa Cecilia, built in 1908, has a long history of cattle breeding and forestry. More recently, the ranch has opened its doors to visitors, welcoming them to join in the daily routine, or just to relax and enjoy the friendly atmosphere. There is good food, comfortable and delightfully antiquated rooms, and large gardens in which to relax.

The main house has just four large guestrooms, two of which have en suite bathrooms with traditional bathtubs. Meals are eaten communally, often accompanied by the estancia’s warm- hearted and hospitable owners and food is made using local produce from the estancia itself. Lunch is usually al fresco in the garden while dinner is served inside the house.

Guests are also able to explore the grounds and beautiful gardens or swim in the pool. Horse riding can be arranged (and taught) at the estancia and there are also more hands-on activities to try alongside the local gauchos who work on the farm. It’s also the perfect base from which to visit the Jesuit missions about 30mins' drive away.

What our experts say

The horses are lovely, and if you can ride you can go out and have a good ride. Equally, if you have never been on a horse, they will cajole and entice you, sit you in the saddle, and look after your every move. It is beautiful: open rolling landscape with views over the fields towards the river and a large lake, so well worth getting in that saddle or going for a walk to enjoy it.
