Caribbean sea kayaking wildlife expedition
Explore a verdant reserve sustaining a wide variety of wildlife before discovering the history and culture of the Garifuna community.
Kayaking along the forest-enclosed channels of Punto Izopo National Park is an excellent and unobtrusive way to observe the lush natural environment and its wild inhabitants, including monkeys, turtles, alligators and an array of bird life.
After exploring canals bordered by mangroves and echoing with birdsong, continue on to the nearby town of Triunfo de la Cruz, where the conquistadors first arrived in Honduras on their quest to conquer it for Spain. Nowadays the town is better known for its Garifuna community, descended from African slaves; you'll have the chance to sample their delicious and distinctive cuisine at a local restaurant.
