Petrel is a small, smart motor yacht catamaran offering intimate cruises in the Galapagos Islands
The new luxury motor yacht Petrel has only been cruising the Galápagos Islands since 2015 but is already wowing guests with its generous space, smart furnishings and fixtures, and stability (it’s a twin hull vessel).
The Petrel is a good choice for the visitor seeking high level comfort, excellent cuisine and top quality guiding in a small, intimate vessel. She only had two suites, six convertible staterooms for two passengers each and a single cabin. Each has a private balcony, private bathroom and panoramic windows. Décor is smart and business-like with plenty of nautical blue and white, while furnishings are lean and contemporary – there’s nothing fussy here, just pleasing modern lines.
You can relax in the spacious lounge but there are plenty of opportunities for active guests, with kayaks, snorkel and exercise equipment on board for your use. With 10 crew and a bilingual naturalist guide of a maximum 16 guests, service is a top priority.

The trip around the Galápagos was spectacular and I have never experienced anything like it before.LB, Enfield
The wildlife on the islands (obviously the major reason for the trip) was spectacular and wonderful to experience. I’m please to have made the trip and would certainly recommend the Galápagos to anyone with similar interests and sufficient money.PM, Chesterfield
The Galápagos was so amazing - we were not at all disappointed even though we had looked forward to it so much. Every part of our cruise was special, and we loved the Athala and her itinerary.RJ, Kenilworth
The wildlife in the Galápagos was so totally unbothered by our presence.SB, Leyland
Snorkelling with penguins, turtles, sea lions and marine iguanas. Unbeatable.DJ, Saltash

"The Galápagos Islands and the amazing Machu Picchu ruins. A real once in a lifetime experience."MCP Richmond
The Galapagos tour was our highlight because of the proximity and abundance of the wildlife.AB, St Neots
The Galápagos Islands are a wonderland. If I say that of all places I have visited in the world only the Grand Canyon is their equal in impact and living up to expectation you will have an idea of how they affected both of us.DW Lingfield
A couple of days in the Galapagos when we didn't see any other people. Intimacy of swimming with sealions, turtles & being chased in the water by a flightless cormorant!TC, St Albans
The Galápagos Islands were out of this world.DJ, Chesterfield
No-one should consider a Galápagos cruise of less then 8 days. We both had a holiday of a lifetime.LF
Galapagos Islands wildlife, guide and boat. To be so close to birds and animals is a privilege and to see such pristine beaches and scenery is lovely.SJ, Winchelsea
The Galápagos - just breathtaking - walking in woodland with wild giant tortoise grazing in clearings, watching wild land iguanas amble through long grasses, peering at eye level into the nests of red footed boobies, watching penguins and sea lions hunting fish whilst snorkelling, and as a finale, watching huge sharks circling in the boat lights during our final evening meal.JW, Newcastle
A holiday in the Ecuador and the Galápagos is a once in a lifetime experience. A four day cruise whilst being an excellent 'overview' is just not long enough. Encourage all your customers to take the longest possible cruise.LF
The attention to environmental concerns on the Galápagos was first rate. The national park is a pristine environment and every effort is being made to keep it that way.PT, Peterborough
Most Memorable Moment: Swimming with sea lions, following hundreds of dolphins on the boat, diving with penguinsKH, London
The cabin upgrade was definitely worth the extra money, much more space and good sized windows!LF, Alderley Edge
We loved snorkelling with marine iguanas, turtles, and the lovely playful sealions.FM, Manchester
The highlight was always going to be the Galápagos and it lived up to our expectations. It is a unique place and unlike our last visit we came away with hundreds of photographs to remind us of the trip.NW, Wells
The sealions were brilliant fun and the pups so cute, and so close. All the wildlife was great and seeing it all up close as nothing is afraid of humans, was amazing.KH, Weybridge
Everything came up to expectations but the highlight was the Galápagos IslandsSC, London, SW11
Most Memorable Moment?: The obvious answer is the whole thing! If I had to choose, I'd say the experience of arriving at the top of the Prince Phillip Steps on Genovesa to be confronted by a sea of roosting and nesting seabirds completely unfazed by our presence. Of course I'd read about it in advance but nothing really prepares you for experiencing it for yourself. Another key moment was going snorkelling for the first time at the age of 70 and immediately having underwater encounters with a sea lion and a green sea turtle. My prescience in investing in a GoPro camera ahead of the trip paid huge dividends in terms of lasting memories.DM, Nottingham
The Galápagos trip was very sympathetic to the environment and local habitat.AD, Dublin
Highlight?: Probably a sea lion playing underneath me and showing off whilst I was snorkelling. Beautiful.DD, Uxbridge
Without a doubt, the Galapagos Islands were amazing. We feel very privileged.SM, South Croydon
Highlight of your trip?: Snorkeling in the Galapagos
One of us had not snorkelled for a very long time and was hesitant in deep water. Martin the Naturalist on MV Eclipse helped her overcome her fears and enabled her to accompany him resulting in amazing underwater views that she would not have had. The whole trip was memorable for both of us... We just loved the Galapagos.AL
The range of wildlife to be seen in the Galapagos stood out but there were so many highlights.TH, Colchester
The close proximity of the wildlife in the Galapagos is amazing.DW, Stevenage
