Waterside Sani Lodge, shrouded by tropical foliage, is a remote eco-lodge in the Ecuadorian jungle.

Waterside Sani Lodge, shrouded by tropical foliage, is a remote eco-lodge in the Ecuadorian jungle. You’ll stay in one of 10 thatched private cabins of polished wood, simply furnished with bed, mosquito net, screened windows and modern bathroom. There are four family-sized cabins, and a campsite with tents on covered platforms.

Although exquisite, this is standard for many rainforest lodges. But Sani differs from others in one important respect: it is owned and managed by the local Quichua indigenous community. All profits are ploughed into healthcare, education and sustainable projects. You have the opportunity share the daily life of the 600-strong community. While you are there you can enjoy a variety of experiences from hiking, kayaking and wildlife-spotting. In this biodiverse region there are thousands of different varieties of trees, and climbing vines, exotic flowers and butterflies, along with hundreds of species of tropical birds, and as many as 13 kinds of monkey.
