Casona de la Ronda
Small boutique-style colonial mansion conversion mixing traditional features with bold design choices, including an impressive living wall and striking viewpoint room.
With a fantastic location on a cobbled street just around the corner from the old city's central square, Casona de la Ronda small converted colonial mansion has been carefully restored to mirror the rich colonial history of its surroundings. The building abounds with character, and the courteous staff are committed to the highest levels of service.
The stylish, spacious and eminently comfortable guestrooms face out onto a pretty covered courtyard. Décor includes plenty of traditional features such as polished wood floors, stone walls and local textiles and paintings, but delicate floral murals, an impressive living wall of native plants and some bold design choices add a boutique edge. There's a strikingly decorated viewpoint room looking out across the historic centre to the summit of El Panecillo, and a cosy lounge with an open fireplace. The restaurant, painted in a rich shade of burnt orange and lined with antique mirrors, serves a mixture of excellent local and international fare.
What our clients say
97% of our clients rated their experience with us as Excellent or Good.
The staff couldn't have been more helpful. We overooked a small jewellery box in the room safe and they went out of their way to contact us and return it to us. Well situated in the old town with excellent facilities.TH, Colchester
A charming, rustic hotel in the centre of the old town. Very comfy beds and a good breakfast.JR, Folkestone
Excellent small hotel which over delivered.RH, Ely
"Fabulous hotel - highly recommend it. The staff were amazing - they addressed me by my name, remembered my preferences and were generally helpful and insightful. Really super hotel. Walls are a tad thin in some rooms, but the service makes up for any noise disturbance.”NS, Wimbledon
This is a charming hotel converted from a colonial mansion. It is well-situated for exploring the colonial heart of Quito and the staff are helpful and available. The buffet breakfast is excellent, with a wide range of choice available.DM, Nottingham
A beautiful hotel with helpful staff, for example, accompanying us to get a taxi for a journey to a restaurant. The afternoon refreshments were welcoming, especially the red berry soup celebrating the All Souls and the excellent choice of food at breakfast.RW, Durham
Lovely old place. Shame we couldn't stay longer.PT, Croydon
"This hotel is set in a bohemian neighbourhood with a great courtyard. The room was lovely with a balcony overlooking the street but this meant it was noisy at night as the party in the street continued into the early hours."SM, St. Neots
The lady owner / manager was brilliant and most attentive. The complementary tea and coffee was a great touch.GB, Eastleigh
"Staff very helpful, hotel charming - in excellent location and our room was extremely comfortable. Breakfast staff very helpful - Aurelio and the chef. We had requested a quiet room, and it was quiet as it was at the back, even though the street at the front was noisy at the weekend. So we could enjoy the atmosphere in the street, yet retire to a quiet room. A super start to our holiday."RJ, Kenilworth
Fabulous retreat in the heart of the city. Lovely decor and superb in every way.LR, Colwyn bay
Lovely accommodation and location. A little limited in choice, but good breakfasts and very helpful front desk.JG, Sevenoaks
Lovely hotel - reflecting Ecuadorian culture. Friendly helpful staff.JJ, Colchester
Great hotel, only downside was a totally unatmospheric restaurant. Ate there on our first night. Great company, very poor food. Such a shame because everything else is really lovely.EG, Dorking
"Very good place to stay, location perfect"VW, Bridgewater
Very good atmosphere and nice people.MJ, Taunton
Excellent position, nice quiet room, helpful staff and good breakfast.MP, Hemel Hempstead
"Good position and a lovely hotel."DH, Portsmouth
A wonderful place to stay. Very helpful, friendly staff. The basement restaurant a bit lacking in character (and not many fellow-diners) but excellent meals and service. A garden area with free drinks and cakes in the late afternoon and another lounge area at the top of the building with a picture window offering a spectacular view across the city. Water purifiers on each floor offering safe drinking water without the need for buying, or being given, bottled water.RD, Harrow
“La Casona de la Ronda was not only a lovely hotel, but the staff were extremely helpful."PC, Chelmsford
Lovely hotel and well located for exploring Quito. We loved the real colonial feel and relaxed atmosphere. All staff were very friendly and helpful - more like a family. Great little restaurant too with lovely food and great breakfast choice. Complimentary tea and cake between 4 pm - 7 pm very welcome. We had a very spacious, comfortable, clean and quiet suite (overlooking the small garden area) which even had a fridge! Would definitely recommend.VH, Bristol
Great hotel, location great, staff lovely - informative, helpful and caring.JT, Bristol
"Casona de la Ronda is situated in the historical area of Quito and has a delightful feel about it. The room was comfortable and breakfast excellent. To be in an area from which one can walk to explore the city is a bonus."HT, Conwy
Great hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the food is superb.JW, Bedford
"Great setting in Old Quito. Do not take a room at the front unless you are prepared for street noise. Our room was towards the back and was very quiet."PT, London
