Hotel del Parque
Sumptuous new classic property in the leafy waterfront Parque Histórico, Guayaquil.
The Hotel Parque (opened 2017) is the fruition of a restoration project undertaken by the prestigious hotel chain Oro Verde. The building, acquired some decades ago, was formerly a hospice, and is located in the waterfront Parque Histórico, a leafy protected area which is a refuge for wildlife and which also has various buildings dating back to the era of the Spanish Empire.
This colonial history is reflected in the sumptuous décor of this luxurious, nostalgic property, but the design is also sympathetic to the age of the main building: it was constructed in the republican era of the late 1890s, and rooms have many republican French-style details. There are 44 huge, romantic guest rooms with lofty ceilings, massive bathrooms purveying a real sense of light and space. There has been no expense spared on the furnishings and fittings. Gastronomy is taken seriously here and the restaurant offers fine dining.
