Where to go when - our guide to Guayaquil

Guayaquil

The weather in Guayaquil is wide and varied

lass="c-where-to-go__overview__content-text">Located on the banks of the river Guayas, which flows into the Pacific, Ecuador’s largest city and principal port of Guayaquil is a hot and humid place where the temperature seldom dips below 28°C all year round. As is characteristic of the southern Pacific strip in Ecuador, sunny days with heavy afternoon rains can be expected from January-April, when humidity levels are also extremely high. Outside of these months there is very little rainfall, although high humidity levels remain (70% and over) due to the city’s location on the river and the almost permanent dry season cloud cover. A modern and heavily populated city, most visitors just pass through for a night on the way to, or back from the Galapagos Islands so the weather here is of little consequence. However, good quality hotels, a pleasant and breezy malecon (riverside promenade) with its nearby arty hillside district of Las Penas offer enough of interest for a short visit whatever the time of the year.
