Hosteria Tambopaxi is a cosy, traditional mountain lodge providing shelter for climbers, hikers, cyclists and horse-riders, with an excellent restaurant.
This comfortable mountain lodge hotel, with thatched roof and adobe walls built using traditional Andean construction techniques is set in the heart of Cotopaxi National Park in the Avenue of the Volcanoes, the pride of Ecuador’s glorious highland landscapes.
Set at an altitude of 3,750m, it has magnificent views of Mount Cotopaxi and is a good choice for lovers of outdoor activities, with hikers, mountain bikers, horse-riders and hikers taking advantage of its cosy facilities.
The lodge is used as a base for those wishing to acclimatise before climbing the volcano. It’s pretty basic, but its lounging areas with a wood-burning stove and beamed ceilings and the airy restaurant with picture windows offering glorious views are most welcoming. All rooms have their own independent heating system, and private bathroom with permanent hot water.
