Lapa Rios is a luxury wilderness eco-lodge in a private reserve near Corcovado National Park. The elegant lodge enjoys a stunning hillside location, perched above the ochre sands of a 2km stretch of beach.
Lapa Rios provides perfect seclusion for honeymooners and discerning travellers, not to mention innovative cuisine, attentive service and spacious, comfortable accommodation. Each of its thatched bungalows has a private deck, patio garden with outdoor shower, private bathroom and a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean framed by jungle foliage. There is also a main lodge housing the bar, the excellent restaurant and a viewing platform.
Despite all these comforts, the main attraction is undoubtedly the rainforest and its wildlife. Activities include rainforest treks, horse riding, kayaking, fishing, surfing and bird-watching trips in search of some of the 319 avian species which inhabit the reserve. Other wildlife that you may see during your stay includes three species of monkey, coati mundi, three-toed sloths and various species of lizard and frog. There are miles of private trails in prime rainforest, where the rare scarlet macaw is ever-present in the treetops.
