Kasiiya Papagayo Retreat
Set on a rugged stretch of forested Pacific coast, Kasiiya is a tranquil luxury retreat where well-being is the theme.
To say that Kasiiya blends into its stunning natural surroundings is an understatement. Until you arrive you'd be unaware of its presence. Nestled in a unique, protected area of dry forest, there are five luxurious, air-conditioned tented suites, each with private decking and designed to let the daylight flood in while the interior earthy shades are inspired by the surrounding natural environment. A very special feature is your open-air copper bath, where you can luxuriate to the sound of birdsong.
There are three lovely beaches accessible from the property which are perfect for swimming, snorkelling, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding: the equipment is complimentary. There are also some very good walking trails from the retreat -take a guide, or explore on your own.
The dining area’s large terrace must be one of the best spots in Costa Rica from which to watch the sun go down, cocktail in hand. Kasiiya - which means 'finding your own pace' in Swahili - embraces the concept of well-being, with a yoga deck, 'movement' classes and innovative spa treatments.
What our clients say
97% of our clients rated their experience with us as Excellent or Good.
Everything felt "easy" and stress free. The most memorable aspect was driving through fantastic scenery, so much to see!AF, Cardiff
The whole Tortuguero experience was brilliant.TK, Leighton buzzard
We have many good memories and it's difficult to identify a single best experience. Each of the Lodges we stayed at impressed us by their environmental policies. Each had comfortable accommodation ranging from quite simple to quite extravagant. Importantly for us they were each located in different types of habitat so although there was some overlap in what we saw, there were sufficient differences for us to be continually interested.NW, Carnforth
Most memorable experiences:Seeing the turtles nesting in Tortugero, the magical Tortugero national park and Monteverde. We also loved Tamarindo to chill and surf!EdVC, London
Most memorable experiences: Waterfall rapelling at el remanso, the internal flights on tiny planes, everything was goodSM, Knaresborough
Everything was good. An unexpected highlight was the chocolate tour to the local conservation chocolate plantation in Sarapiqui.DS, Coventry
Most memorable experiences: "Snorkelling off the island at Corcovado seeing the marine wildlife then returning by boat seeing dolphins and turtles in the sea; Kayaking excursion form Tortuga Lodge (extra cost but worth it) - sitting watching spider monkeys a few feet a way form us drinking juice form the fruit, with caymen in close attendance."DO, Bedford

It is difficult to single out any one part as being most memorable. For me (as a geologist) the trip to Poas Volcano was great. The ziplining at Punta Islita was superb.RH, Peterborough
Highlights?: Seeing the Quetzal with Carlos; finding the MotMot on our own at La Quinta; seeing the Eyelash Pit Viper on the Hanging Bridges trip; all of the 5 days with Esteban and Alberto were brilliant (and my husband seeing the Roseate Spoonbill and Jabiru at Palo Verde - I loved the Fiery Aricaris a few feet in front of us at Rio Magnolia). In all we saw 234 species of birds.MCB, Stockport
We had a really exceptional trip. The mix of beautiful scenery and amazing wildlife made it a real adventure and yet the logistics made it achievable and stress free. Costa Rica has beaches, wildlife and lots of outdoor fun (zip lines, rafting, and ATV trails for example) which make it ideal for a holiday which met the desires of all the family.GP, Warwick
A brilliant mixture of hotels. Excellent standard and great service. Beautiful settings and well located.LW, NW11
Highlights: Monkeys and macaws on the trees by our bedroom ,and the White water rafting to and from Pacuare Lodge and swimming down the river!JB, Ashford
So many brilliant memories but if we had to pick one it was witnessing the sea turtle lay eggs on beach in Tortugero.PG, Galway
Highlight: Seeing the wildlife in Costa Rica. There are so many beautiful birds and amazing animals that it's hard not to see them. The guides were exceptional, especially William and Carlos and not only found the wildlife but also told us about other aspects of the countries. I particularly enjoyed having the private tours and we would do that again.JW, Weymouth
Highlight?: Seeing turtles laying eggs on the beach in TortugueroAD, Ilkley
Highlights: Bird watching at Tortuguero and snorkelling on the reef in Belize which was simply amazing.GW, Winchester
Highlights:- The wildlife in Costa Rica is incredible and it is everywhere you go and very immediate. Add to that beautiful scenery and very friendly people and it is a great holiday destination.MJ, E14
So many - sloths close up, wild monkeys eating coconuts from our hand, finding a snake in Falls resort, zipwiring in Arenal, canoeing to old Costa Rican farmhouse, night walks in Monteverde, whale and dolphin watching on my birthday in Manuel Antonio, birdwatching in Tortuguero, massive iguanas in Mawamba, walking home from dinner in a massive downpour in Manuel Antonio, watching toucans and armadillo in Monteverde.JS, Amersham
Highlights?: The drive Ranch Margot round Lake Arenal, staying there, seeing humming birds feeding from flowers a metre from our bungalow veranda, kayaking in the shadow of the amazing volcano.JH, London
We always ask each other what the highlight was, but always fail. It was really the variety. There is really so much to remember.JS, Bath
The noises and sounds surrounding us all day and night, created by all the wildlife was fantastic. Never heard anything like it and loved it. The Costa Rican hospitability is something to live up to they have it right!St, Swords

Highlights? Bosque Del Cabo, Rafiki and Maquenque, absolutely wonderful.ASP, Bexhill-on-sea
Costa Rica as a whole was very impressive in its attitude towards eco-tourism. Actively reforesting areas that have previously been de-forested and setting up new areas of rain forest/park.BC, N19
