Cloud Forest Lodge
Surrounded by trees dripping with bromeliads and alive with butterflies and hummingbirds, Cloud Forest Lodge is the ideal hotel to be enveloped by nature.
Beautifully set within cool cloud forest, 10 minutes from the Monteverde Reserve (in the Santa Elena area), this lodge is surrounded by trees dripping with bromeliads and alive with butterflies and hummingbirds. Rooms at the lodge are spacious yet simple, designed to blend into their natural surroundings and deliberately lack modern amenities such as TVs and ACs, which of course have an impact on the environment. Instead extra blankets and energy efficient light bulbs are used creating a warm cosy atmosphere. The focus on the natural is carried through into the restaurant where fresh, natural ingredients and home-baked bread are always the order of the day. Guest rooms and restaurant have balconies where you can just relax and enjoy the flora and fauna.

Most memorable experience: “Very difficult to be specific but an eclectic selection would include:- Boat trip excursion with excellent guide from Tortuga Lodge; Singer/Musician at Dinner at Arenal Nayara Hotel; Crossing Arenal Lake (clear blue skies and we were the only passengers on the boat) and then scenic drive to Monteverde”VB, Sloane Sqaure
Turtle watching tour, zip wiring and white water rafting. Also enjoyed seeing all the wildlife living in its natural habitat.IH, Ipswich
It was all pretty memorable but the view of the Arenal volcano from our boat transfer across the lake sticks in my mind. It was a completely clear day and the volcano was steaming. Also the sleeping toucan on the El Refugio Twilight Tour. Also Rio Perdido was a lovely place for a couple of days relaxation.EW, Newport
So many brilliant memories but if we had to pick one it was witnessing the sea turtle lay eggs on beach in Tortugero.PG, Galway

Everything was amazing...This is the best family holiday we have ever had. Even our 20 year old daughter, who has travelled extensively, agreed that Costa Rica is wonderfully unique. The itinerary provided by Joirney Latin America provided a varied and interestingly diverse view of the country. Each accommodation was memorable and contributed towards an amazing trip. Thank you.RW, Cheltenham
