Waira Selva is a homely hotel in the centre of eco-village Puerto Narino in the Colombian Amazon.

Hotel Waira Selva, situated in the ground-breaking eco-village Puerto Nariño about 90 minutes by boat from Leticia on the Colombian side of the river Amazon is the cousin of Waira Suites in Leticia.

Puerto Nariño is a small, traffic-free river port with a grid of flower-fringed paths and pretty, thatched one-storey homes, famed for its devotion to sustainable living. It’s a particularly quiet and relaxed little place to stay and chill out, surrounded on three sides by small fields and rainforest, with a beautiful, tranquil lagoon close by and jungle trails to explore.

The village welcomes visitors, but owing to its relatively remote location receives relatively few: there are three rustic restaurants, a handful of guest houses and this one mid-range hotel, Waira Selva.  With its wooden shuttered windows it looks more Alpine than Amazonian, but inside you get a warm Colombian welcome. There are 12 simply furnished single, double and family sized rooms, each with its own bathroom with shower, ventilator and air-conditioning.
