Where to go when - our guide to Colombia

The weather in Colombia is wide and varied
From snow-capped Andean mountains to dense, unspoilt rainforests, Colombia boasts some of Latin America’s most diverse and dramatic scenery. This is a year-round destination with a relatively stable climate; while some months are rainier than others, you won’t find many dramatic weather fluctuations. That being said, the climate can vary greatly between regions. Expect pleasant springtime weather in Andean cities, steamy tropical downpours in the Amazon rainforest and beaming, hot sunshine on the glorious Caribbean coastlines.
As December - March offer the driest and hottest weather conditions in many regions, this is often the high season for visitors - popular destinations will be bustling with a lively atmosphere. You may also wish to plan your trip to include one of Colombia’s many cultural events - why not celebrate Baranquilla’s larger-than-life Carnival in February, or marvel at the intricate floral displays of Medellín’s Flower Festival in August. Wildlife enthusiasts would do well to visit the Amazon during the drier season July - November when the animals are easier to spot, or head to the grassy Llanos from September - March when thousands of birds flock to the watering holes.
