La Casona at Matetic Vineyard
Small and charming hotel set on a vineyard, with a serene rural ambience that belies its proximity to the capital – a great alternative to staying in the city.
The idyllic Matetic vineyard and its small hotel, La Casona, are situated in the Antonio Valley, where a refreshing microclimate supports the cultivation of Pinot Noir and Shiraz grapes. It's just an hour's drive from Santiago airport, but the rural peace and serenity are such that it feels a world away from the modern capital.
Accommodation is in a renovated 100-year old estancia set around a central courtyard with adobe walls and colonnaded walkways. Surrounding the house are beautiful gardens with formal topiary and an outdoor lap pool, beside which you can relax and enjoy views to the vineyards.
There are just seven guest rooms, each decorated in a simple but elegant style. One of these rooms is a luxury suite and has a whirlpool bath.
There is a restaurant specialising in gourmet Chilean cuisine with menus prepared to complement the vineyard's excellent wines. Other facilities include a spacious living room, pool table and bar. Wine tasting and a tour of the winery are included in your stay.
