La Yegua Loca
The imaginatively designed La Yegua Loca is a small Patagonia-themed boutique hotel close to the centre of Punta Arenas at the southern tip of Chilean Patagonia.
Yegua Loca means crazy mare, and this eclectic boutique hotel and café/restaurant is certainly not short of idiosyncrasy. Perched a little above the centre of the main city of southern Patagonia, Punta Arenas on the Straits of Magellan, the original, characterful house with its wooden balconies and cheerfully painted exterior dates from 1929 and each of its eight themed guest rooms is designed subtly to capture the essence of Patagonia, with sheepskin rugs, headboards made of picket fencing, recycled antique bathroom fixtures and all manner of wall decorations from cowhides to garden saws. The main plaza is about five blocks away or under 10-minutes' walk, making the property a great base for exploring the city and its museums as well as attractions in the wilderness beyond the urban limits.
What our clients say
97% of our clients rated their experience with us as Excellent or Good.
The Manatee Amamzon Explorer was much as we had expected having looked carefully at their website. There was always plenty of staff available at any time and they were especially helpful when transferring from ship to motorised canoe.EG, Epsom
