Many properties in the lake district imitate traditional style architecture with liberal use of local wood and pitched roofs. This is something altogether different: built in the retro Bauhaus style of the late 1940s it’s a smart modernist (of its time) property featuring stone and glass, facilitating magnificent views over the countryside from floor-to-ceiling windows.
Each bright yet cosy guest room (there are 22) has its own fireplace and furnishings, fabrics and ornaments feature the design of local arts and crafts, including those of the Mapuche indian community.
The private gardens overlooking the lake are especially lovely, with paths, viewpoints, kitchen garden (the restaurant uses its own produce) and beaches. There are five waterfalls with natural volcanic rock pools and seasonal flowerbeds. Other facilities include a heated pool, tennis court, motor boat, sailing, and windsurfing opportunities.
