Antumalal is a small, modern luxury hotel with a lovely garden overlooking Lake Villarrica.
Many properties in the lake district imitate traditional style architecture with liberal use of local wood and pitched roofs. This is something altogether different: built in the retro Bauhaus style of the 1950s, it’s a smart modernist (of its time) property featuring stone and glass. Each and every room – public areas and the 16 guest rooms and four chalets – have magnificent views over the countryside from floor-to-ceiling windows. The bar and restaurant have large terrace overlooking Lake Villarica.
Each guest room has its own fireplace and furnishings, fabrics and ornaments featuring the design of local arts and crafts, including those of the Mapuche indian community.
The lakeside private gardens are especially lovely, with paths, viewpoints, kitchen garden (the restaurant uses its own produce) and beaches. There are five waterfalls with natural volcanic rock pools and seasonal flowerbeds. Spa Antumaco, carved into the natural lakeside rock, includes indoor and outdoor swimming pools, sauna, hydro massage pool and a wide range of therapies and massages. Other facilities include a heated pool, tennis court, motor boat, sailing, and windsurfing opportunities.
What our clients say
97% of our clients rated their experience with us as Excellent or Good.
Excellent location with fine views from all rooms as well as from dining area. Small number of rooms so cosy feel to the place. Nicely planted gardens. Excellent food served at dinner and breakfast. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Somewhat dated rooms and fittings but nevertheless somewhere I would be very happy to go back to.PG, Oxford
