Stylish, rustic and contemporary hotel inspired by its surroundings and an ethos of sustainability.
The small, sustainably run Casa Atacama distils the essence of San Pedro de Atacama into a stylish, rustic and contemporary space. Adobe walls, free-form wooden decking and beautiful wild grasses dominate the outside areas, while rooms are bright and modern with understated use of natural materials and a smattering of local textiles and art. Each has a private terrace and an indoor pebble garden.
Scenically surrounded by terracotta walls, greenery and thatch-shaded sun loungers, the pool is small but attractive, and certainly welcome on invariably hot desert days. The spa includes a hot tub, sauna and an array of treatments including massages, reflexology and Reiki, or if you prefer more active pursuits there are bikes for complimentary use.
There’s a restaurant serving an exciting menu of Andean specialities with a twist, prepared using seasonal local ingredients. Reflecting the hotel’s sustainable ethos, electricity and hot water are powered by solar panels and it has its own water treatment plant.

Lovely OASIS in the desert.JR Harpenden
"Very pleasant, although ambiance compromised by large phone masts outside bedroom! It was unclear to us where wine was included."TS, Isle of Man
"Extremely friendly and helpful staff and guides. Our original room we were offered was rear facing, very hot and not particularly attractive, but as the hotel wasn't very full they kindly offered us a much nicer upgrade facing the pool at no additional charge. We suggest you insist on these rooms for future clients."JL, Pinner
"Here as at Patagonia Camp the guides were great, very friendly, well-organised and equipped and again with a clear love of their country. The hotel is very well designed with various public spaces, good food and wine."MT, Henley on Thames
This is a fabulous hotel with lovely bedrooms, generally good food, stylish public rooms and staff, including excellent guides and drivers on the trips we took.MS, London
Excellent customer service
"Casa Atacama is a great place to relax, staff are very friendly and the tours they offer are brilliant, the tour leaders provide plenty of information and make every excursion an experience to remember."EW, Leeds
"A superb experience."JL, Richmond
"Excellent hotel - exceeded our expectations. Only negative was that the food in the restaurant, though always beautifully presented, was rather variable in quality. Given that there are several good restaurants in the town, perhaps a half board option should be given...."AG, Edgware
