The Nandú Journey explores the beautiful, remote and sometimes savage scenery of Patagonia in southern Chile and Argentina, and the diverse human and wildlife landscapes of these two very varied countries.
From the gentle countryside, dense forests and snow-capped volcanoes of the Chilean lake district, the journey heads south to the bleak windswept scenery of Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego, crossing grassy plains, passing soaring granite peaks and creaking glaciers. By way of dramatic contrast you’ll savour life in the two capital cities; the elegant and European Buenos Aires, and cosmopolitan Santiago.

The itinerary was fantastic and perfect for 3 weeks.AMT, Tadworth
This is our 3rd trip with JLA and we look forward to our 4th. The best place to start planning holiday in South America, incredible wealth of knowledge and experience.LG, Richmond
The most memorable part is every day we thought it couldn't get better and it did. Perito merino glacier, Torres del Paine end of world and Iguazu. Easter island was a childhood dream and it exceeded expectations. Mount FitzRoy walk was stunning.JC, Colchester
We enjoyed an excellent tour with a special tour leader. We chose this tour because it took us to a lot of places we had dreampt of visiting and it certainly lived up to expectations. We expected to do a significant amount of walking and enjoyed all the walks that were offered. For us the balance between walking and other activities was ideal.CHJ, Aberdeen
I would highly recommend this tour. The itinerary was very well chosen and we felt we saw as much as we could hope for in the time provided. The tour leader was highly professional and experienced, had excellent knowledge of the countries we visited and was available 24/7 for anything we needed. The local guides were excellent too and each gave us a special insight into the area we were visiting.MC, Australia
The whole experience was wonderful. Loved every place we went even Buenos Aires which I thought might not appeal. We went to see the Madres de Plaza de Mayo, it was a very moving and emotional experience.LP, Lasswade
Climbing Villarica Volcano on a beautiful sunny day. Reaching the summit to see incredible views over the Andes and Lake District, the skyline peppered with snowy cones of of the volcanos, then peering into the gently smoking crater to see lava bubbling beneath us. Totally awesome!!!AP, Norwich
Overall the Nandu tour was a wonderful experience. We have seen some stunning scenery, done some reasonably tough hiking and had some fabulous meals. The JLA staff and their representatives have been first class and the food was excellent. The accommodation was mostly very good too. It is a full-on tour so people going on the tour may want to chill-out somewhere at the end of the tour to relax as we did!VJ, London
I cannot imagine travelling to Latin America with anyone other than JLA. They again proved that they are the best in the business. After our first visit to South America I thought it would be a hard standard to live up to, but this trip proved me wrong.TS, Pontefract
It was an amazing holiday with so many wonderful experiences and stunning scenery. Possibly in the months ahead the images that will stand our are: the Perito Mereno Glacier, Torres del Paine, the Fitzroy Mountain shining in the morning sunlight, the trip on the Beagle Channel and the Iguazu Falls. We were blessed with unusually fine weather which made the trip even more memorable. No wind in Patagonia, and calm waters in the Beagle Channel!JH, Radstock
Amazingly the trip was everything I had hoped it would be. Having wanted to go to Patagonia since I can remember, and having the opportunity arise fairly last minute, choosing JLA was a good decision! Great itinerary and good organisation left me to enjoy the experience!JA, Sutton
This was a holiday I have wanted to do for many years and it did not fail to deliver. Our tour leader was professional, knowledgeable, understanding and integrated with the local guides to ensure received the best service and information. The recommendations we were given for restaurants, optional tours, tango evenings, sorting money etc were spot on. And finally, the visits to various ice cream parlours for dessert after group meals was most welcome!GM, Fairford
An excellent holiday that certainly lived up to expectations. Very happy to have travelled again with JLA, after our first trip with you from Brazil to Peru, with an extension to Ecuador (just 26 years ago!) Thanks again.DA, York
It was a very memorable and exciting holiday. As well as the magnificent scenery, I was bowled over by the birds, animals and flowers. Compared to Europe, it felt very unspoilt and unpopulated.KM, Edinburgh
The beauty of nature, particularly the Torres glowing at sunrise and the vastness of the Perito Moreno glacier. The views from the planes were also fantastic!TW, York
Really, really great trip - thank you so much.SC, London
This was a great trip taking in all the highlights of Chile and southern Patagonia before finishing off with a visit to Buenos Aires. The highlight was hiking in Torres del Paine but there were memorable moments throughout. Our tour leader was excellent throughout, helping everybody achieve their individual goals and really adding to the group holiday experience.GD, Cranleigh
This isn't a specific part of the trip, but I do think that the variety of locations and activities available is excellent. It is a busy tour but, personally, I enjoyed this and am pleased that the coverage is as good as it is of such large countries as, travelling that far, I do want to see and do as much as possible. I also found the extension I did suited my requirements well.JP, Holmfirth
For me this tour is a must for all those wishing to really experience everything Patagonia has to offer. Not only does it visit Torres del Paine and the Perito Moreno glacier but the contrasting region of the Chilean lake district, magnificent Fitz Roy and Tierra del Fuego - the end of the world!
