Northern Argentina is a vast and varied land with an abundance of attractions, and our Gaucho Journey is a superb introduction to its impressive geography and rich culture. You actually start the tour in neighbouring Chile, before flying over the Andes to the lively city of Mendoza. These first few days will offer the chance to delve into the wine production for which these regions are famous. This theme continues as you head north to the dazzling paint-box colours and arid canyon landscapes of Salta and the surrounding region, also one of Argentina’s premier wine producing areas. Leave the city behind and fly east to Puerto Iguazú where you spend time exploring the mighty Iguazú falls and spotting the local colourful wildlife, before finishing your tour in cosmopolitan Buenos Aires, considered to be Latin America's most European city, with its wide boulevards, colonial architecture and café society.

What our clients say
97% of our clients rated their experience with us as Excellent or Good.
Very difficult to chose because every aspect was memorable. I think the Gaucho itinerary was well chosen providing a good exposure to a wide example of interesting places in Argentina and we also liked the initial 2 days in Chile.MB, Sevenoaks
What a fabulous trip - we were very well looked after all the way and our guide was wonderful - we could not praise him more highly. He made sure we had enough money wherever we went, changing money when needed, showing us the best places to get a taste of whichever town, city, or countryside we were visiting, giving us agreat introduction to local culture and customs, ensuring our safety always. The places we visited were amazing - and very different from one another , so the tour together gave us a real insight into the diversity exisiting in the areas we touched. The tour was action packed, but necessary to see so much in so short a time - a truly wonderful introduction to a part of Chile and a taste of Argentina.CW, Ilkley
Every place we visited is just so different, it's hard to pick the most memorable. I loved it all.SB, Ilkley
This was my first visit to South America and although I realise we only scraped the surface of this vast continent,I feel that i have had the most amazing experience and very much hope to visit again.
As a long-term confirmed do-it-yourself traveller, the smoothness and ease of this tour converted me. I loved the parts of South America that I saw, and would like to see more. I will certainly travel with JLA again, though I will attempt to link up with tours led by my tour leader whose expertise I grew to trust completely, and who was great fun. I just haven't decided yet where I will go next.AC, Derry
An excellent specialist company with great attention to detail, abundance of local knowledge and great customer care. I have travelled twice with this company and will certainly travel with them again.AL, London
It was a fantiastic holiday, visiting really varied and fascinating locations in an amazing country, and well paced too. One of the reasons I was able to go on the Gaucho tour was that I could fit it into a two weeks holiday from work, but a lot of your tours are a bit too long for that.DB, London
It was a wonderful trip. It was all good. In saying what I say next that is not to denigrate anything else. However, here we were at the vineyards outside Mendoza. It is a beautiful day weather-wise. We have had a fine tour of the vineyard and winery. The vineyard is itself beautiful and peaceful. Now we are in a lovely modern building for the 'lecture' and tastings. I am feeling very happy. Can it get any better? Yes. I look beyond the lecturer out of the window and there I see the beauty of the vineyard and 'just' behind that of the high Andes. Breathtaking!IM, London
I have been travelling for over half a century but his was my first organised tour and it was wonderful. As I said on my return I would go again next week if my diary was not full, I needed a rest and was not minded to spend as much again so soon.
Another very interesting and well organised Journey Latin America trip.HM, Nuneaton
A vibrant tour following a slightly offbeat route with each stop in marked contrast to the previous one. It showcases the diverse cities and fantastic landscapes within a short trip and there is plenty of good food and drink along the way. It's great fun to lead.
