The Brazilian Amazon: Amazon Clipper Cruise

Visit Us

Amazon Clipper Cruise

Reaching narrower channels that are impractical for other vessels, the Amazon Clipper delves into the exotic rainforest wilderness surrounding Manaus to introduce the region’s natural marvels and human stories.

Upstream from the Amazon powerhouse of Manaus, you’ll visit caboclo settlers at their small farmsteads before gliding through dark waters crowded with giant water lilies to reach Lake Janauari. There are plenty of opportunities to get closer to the majestic scenery in canoes, including at sunset to appreciate the evening sounds of the jungle and in the early morning when parrots and other colourful birds are most active. There is also a chance to fish for piranhas and to spot sloths, snakes and prehistoric-looking caiman on an exhilarating night safari.

If you choose a longer cruise, you’ll continue on the next day through the Anavilhanas archipelago to visit another jungle settlement and a white-sand beach on the banks of an Amazon tributary. Heading back via the Meeting of the Waters you’ll pass a once prosperous ghost town reclaimed by strangler figs, revealing another facet of life in the fickle Amazon.
