Villa Amazonia
Villa Amazonia is a conTemporary mid-range hotel with colonial features and a good range of facilities in the centre of Manaus in the Brazilian Amazon.
Villa Amazonia is just a stone's throw from Manaus' downtown Opera House. A converted colonial home, its grandiose entrance leads into a reception area with exposed original stone walls and a wood-panelled ceiling. Meanwhile the subterranean atmosphere of the windowless restaurant contrasts with the natural light which floods other parts of the hotel.
The guest rooms reflect a blend of modern (a marble bathroom and 'rain-shower') and traditional (1970s furnishing and wooden carvings). The hotel is mid-range but has a good range of facilities - there's a gym and bar and the in-house restaurant offers a tropical take on many familiar classics. The outdoor swimming pool and private garden, over which all rooms have a view, are most attractive.
