Juma Opera Hotel
An evocative and charming hotel just steps from the Opera House in historic central Manaus.
Set alongside Manaus’s central square - the broad and stately Praça São Sebastião - the elegant Portuguese colonial-style building which accommodates this pleasant hotel reflects the affluence of the 19th century rubber boom era, when the city was among the first in the world to run trams in streets illuminated by electric lights.
Behind the arched windows of the belle époque façade are spacious sound-proofed guest rooms, many of which have a close-up view of Manaus's world-famous icon: the ornate, golden-domed Opera House. Décor is contemporary but with a nostalgic twist. The restaurant is set in a steel and glass dome structure with a superb view over the theatre.
The rooftop pool, where you can relax in shaded loungers, offers vistas over the city towards the Rio Negro. Other facilities include two shops and a fitness room. In the evening, you might pop outside for a drink in one of the square's lively bars and pavement cafés.
