OUR GUIDE TO the weather in the Salvador, Lencois and the beaches of Bahia
Colourful Salvador throbs with drumbeat and dance. It is hot and humid year round, with the coolest, rainiest months being April - July and the busiest period for visitors between Christmas and Carnival in February/March. The forested mountains of Chapada Diamantina and the laid-back town of Lençóis have tropical temperatures throughout the year, with the best conditions for hiking June – October when the climate is relatively cool and dry. Bahia’s chain of tropical Atlantic beaches can be enjoyed for much of the year although you may wish to skip the rainier months April - June. The temperature doesn’t vary much, hovering around 30°C. Things can get especially lively during Carnival and the August holidays when Brazilians love to head for the beach.
