Porto Bay Rio de Janeiro
Smart and attractive modern hotel with glorious views, a fabulous pool and an ideal location on the Copacabana beachfront: great value for Rio.
This smart and attractive modern Porto Bay Rio International is justifiably popular with our staff and clients. For a start, it's ideally located on Copacabana's beachfront with super views right across the coastline from the striking rooftop pool and from many of the guest rooms.
Moreover, we think its guestrooms offer exceptional value in comparison to similar hotels in the city, being relatively spacious and almost all with sought-after ocean views and balconies (unusual in Rio). If you don't have a balcony, you'll be rewarded with floor-to-ceiling windows and a magnificent, dual-aspect view. Rooms also have air-con, minibar, cable TV, wireless internet, DVD/CD player, and en suite bathroom.
There is a 5th-floor restaurant with more great beach views, plus a sauna, small gym and a ground-floor cafe and bar.
What our clients say
97% of our clients rated their experience with us as Excellent or Good.
Great location, staff were helpful and let us check out later. The rooftop bar and pool had amazing views and were a great place to rewind. The breakfast was the best of our trip, the restaurant/room service food is nothing to write home about but equally there are lots of great options very local so wasn't a problem.CAA, London
The hotel is in an ideal location right on Copacabana beach and close to shops, restaurants and bars. The rooftop terrace is particularly nice. Our room which faced the side street was fairly small and dark but we could still see the beach from the balcony. I assume that the front facing rooms will be brighter.AER, Edinburgh
Great hotel to finish the trip in.FA, Preston
Another lovely hotel. Although the roof top pool was small the facilities and attentiveness of staff were excellent. Best breakfast of any hotel by far.SB, Solihul
Good hotel in an excellent position on Copacabana. Comfortable room, very good breakfast, super view from the rooftop pool and bar.JR, Grimsby
"In Rio we stayed on Copacabana beach with views of the beach, Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf from the roof top swimming pool."ADF, Richmond
An outstanding view
"Very nice, fantastic breakfasts with an outstanding view, and well-appointed rooms with the quietest air-conditioning I have ever encountered! Only flaw is 2 tiny lifts, so very long waits when the hotel is full, but we did not care - we were on holiday!”CL, Worthing
Superb roof terrace
“Porto Bay Rio Internacional Hotel, Rio de Janeiro. Great location on Copacabana, superb roof terrace, great caparinhas. Not tremendously characterful, and they were a bit slow sorting out a problem with our in-room safe.”RG, Greenwich
Centrally situated with stunning views which can be seen from front and side rooms. Staff very helpful . The currency exchange in the hotel is very good value.CDA,
Lovely hotel with and excellent location, roof top pool and bar small but the weather was not conducive to swimming when we were there. Can be a bit swamped by groups some days/evenings! Brilliant breakfasts!MS, London
“Super hotel in Rio - Porto Bay - very wide selection of foods for breakfast. Best of the whole tour. The hotel allowed us to use the sauna shower to wash and change before we travelled in the afternoon.”VD, Thatcham
“Porto Bay: fantastic roof terrace, pool and dining room and great location but the plumbing was a little quirky.”RG, Greenwich
Helpful , efficient, friendly staff. Room very clean and comfortable. Great views from breakfast room/roof.JW, Isle of Islay
"The hotel was very central and suited us perfectly - my only comment was the roof top pool is more a plunge pool as shallow and very small."SN, Sevenoaks
Hotel right on Copacabana Beach with easy access. Hotel was comfrotable and offered complimentary use of spa and rooftop pool with stunning views. Breakfast was exceptional and the staff helpful.AC, Saffron walden
Great location and friendly staff.CB, Kendall
"We asked to change our room as the one we were given was small cramped and noisy ( I think they were refurbishing the room above us ) They were very apologetic and upgraded us to a front room with a sea view. The bathrooms are very small. The location is great."CD, Corbridge
Large 12th floor room had excellent views but was very noisy with traffic. Housekeeping was haphazard and we kept having to ask for things for room.Excellent breakfast buffet and roof top bar.MR, St Albans
Excellent location. Very good dining area overlooking the beach. Breakfast excellent. It is very narrow and hence limited lift availability which meant delays at busy times.Scores excellent because of the high standard of service and quality of dining facilities.JM, Wantage
