Charming historic guesthouse featuring a classically Brazilian mix of colonial architecture, lush foliage and bright splashes of tropical colour.

The charming Pousada do Ouro consists of two colonial buildings on either side of a quiet street in the historical heart of Paraty. Bright colour accents, rustic tiled roofs and historic architecture make this a typically Brazilian guesthouse, delightful in every way.

The simply furnished and classically styled rooms include four very large suites. There are several relaxation areas – a mix of stylish floral patterns, paintings, tropical plants and exposed stone – as well as a bar, restaurant and secluded pool with loungers, Jacuzzi and sauna.

Unforgettable Experience!

"Arriving late at night as we did, we were immediately impressed by the very attractive and unusual colonial buildings of this intimate pousada on two sides of the cobbled road. Although the Pousada do Ouro isn't in the very centre of town (about 7-8  mins walk), we loved the location as it was near the sea which is unusual here - a very flat area with grassland and a "big sky" effect. Our room, even if not luxurious, was comfortable, roomy and really charming and had a good bathroom. Loved the windows, shutters & doors in particular. The comfortable and atmospheric lounge is beautiful in a tropical way - as was the swimming pool set in a gorgeous, exotic garden full of fascinating plants and birds. The snooker table in the bar area was great when the rain was falling too hard for us to go out. … Delicious breakfast, helpful staff, free internet (a generous touch which we didn't encounter in our other hotels in Brazil), and big umbrellas on free loan -  pretty vital during our brief but wet stay. Good towels and linen and a very clean room. Only criticism - not only did the bathroom door not lock, it also didn't close properly. Also, no latch on the room's door so you had to lock it to keep it shut. Minor points.. Despite having seen colonial towns elsewhere in South America, I've never seen anywhere like this and it was an unforgettable experience."
