Explore the wildlife-rich savannah of Brazil's Cerrado from this small, conservation-focused rustic pousada.

Pousada Trijunçao is a set on a protected reserve in the remote Cerrado, where the blanket of whispering grasslands is interrupted only by patches of dry forest and sparkling clear streams.  Uninhabited by humans, yes, but the landscape, at-first-sight inhospitable, is home to an abundance of wildlife and flora. It’s the perfect base for forays into the savannah in search of native birds and mammals, especially the threatened maned wolf. In harmony with its environment, the accommodation is in rustic low-rise, red-tiled buildings, with just seven guest rooms and suites clustered around a garden and pool. Constructed from local wood and fibre, they are decorated discreetly with traditional handicrafts, but are air-conditioned with modern bathrooms and amenities.

There are lounges with cosy armchairs and hammocks, and an observation tower where you can survey the savannah to a distant horizon. After a day out exploring you have the opportunity to indulge in a massage or soak in the hot tub. The food served is a highlight too, with specialisation in regional recipes – enjoy a barbecue or picnic on the terrace for an outdoor gastronomic experience
