Small, isolated and utterly magical hotel built almost entirely of salt, with views that give the impression of being on the edge of another planet.
This small, isolated and utterly magical Luna Salada hotel, built entirely of salt blocks, overlooks the spectacularly surreal Uyuni salt flats from a low bluff – giving an impression of being on the edge of another planet.
Except for the tiled bathrooms, all the walls and floors of this extraordinary property are made of compacted salt crystals, which shimmer in the sunlight. Even the furniture is mostly made of salt, made homely with cushions and Bolivian textiles.
Guestrooms are modest but all have heaters, electric blankets and cosy bedspreads. The rooms are built along one side of a long corridor, opposite which there is a sitting area with large bay windows framing wonderful views of the salt flats.

Beautiful and unique hotel almost entirely in salt, with a wonderful view on the salar. Cold in the room (very cold - 7 degrees - in the bathroom) - should have better heating / portable heaters.BP, London
