The Lodge at Chaa Creek
Enchanting nature retreat tucked away in a lushly forested valley, offering great opportunities for outdoor adventure.
The Lodge at Chaa Creek is a delightful jungle hideaway, owned by an Anglo-American couple, set deep within a valley in a large private area blanketed in lush rainforest, close to the picturesque Macal River. The atmosphere is extremely peaceful and relaxing, and service is exemplary.

A complete labour of love for the owners
"The incredible standard of everything at Chaa Creek: it was obvious that the place was a complete labour of love for the owners.”JM, Brentford
Wonderful lodge with lovey cottage rooms, great food and service and lots of activities to do. Our canoe trip down the river was great.EM, Ilkley
Very professionally run
“Chaa Creek is very professionally run. Good range of included activities and reasonable cost add-ons. All of the staff were good - friendly and willing to say more than 'you're welcome' when thanked.”NW, Wells
“The staff were all excellent, especially Miguel who took us to Caracol. We also really enjoyed speaking to Mick Fleming on a number of occasions, and were so impressed with what he, his wife and all the staff have achieved at Chaa Creek. The Natural History Centre is simple but very well laid out, and very interesting even to the non-specialist.”AMM, Herne Hill
Positives were the location, the facilities, beautifully presented food and probably the nicest room of our whole trip. The negatives were poor & very expensive wine list, room a bit cold & internet connection appalling. Restaurant service not up to the standard of the hotel.FC, Haywards
Absolute paradise. Excellent accommodation in own thatched cottage with private deck above the jungle (like being in a tree house!). Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Excellent restaurant , all facilities and beautiful grounds. Absolute perfection.JLB,London
Unfortunately it rained for much of our stay but we enjoyed the on site visits with good in house guides. Restaurant was good although swamped when a coach load of people arrived one lunchtime and we waited an hour for food. As it was raining it didn't actually matter too much.GW, Winchester
"Chaa Creek was probably the 'icing on the cake' for environment, accommodation, friendly and helpfulness of staff."JLB, London
Beautiful hotel. Great gardens, good activities. Included dinner and breakfast were both very good. Lots of wildlife in the grounds.RT, Westbury
Most memorable experience was "My wife's reaction to the room at Chaa Creek."CP, Camberley
"Chaa Creek is as near to perfect as can be achieved - Caroline told me we would love it, and we did.”AS, Hardpenden
This was another lovely place. It felt a bit big when we first arrived, so less personal and intimate than the others but we soon acclimatised and loved it just as much. One of the highlights of our whole trip was canoeing down the river, enjoying the peace and tranquility and the birds and butterflies - beautiful. The nature guides here were brilliant.LM Reading
"The staff were extremely attentive, the lodge is beautiful, and we loved canoeing down the river to San Ignacio. Great tarantulas and iguanas, plus lovely birds."WW, Reading
Great place to stay, although the room was quite basic compared to other accomodationJW, Bedford
