Overview & Highlights
This exhilarating action-packed holiday in Belize offers no-holds-barred activities for seekers of soft adventure and more challenging experiences alike - along with time to lie back and relax.
- Guided excursion to ATM caves
- Choice of activities including waterfall hikes, abseiling and ziplining at Bocawina Rainforest resort
- A range of water based activities are included at Glover’s Reef from stand-up paddle boarding and kayaking to `patch reef’ snorkelling
Belize is fast becoming THE place to go for outdoor adventures in an exotic setting. Ever since independence, the availability of exciting new outdoor activities has mushroomed alongside the opening of jungle and coastal lodges of all standards – so, in this tiny country, the choice for lovers of nature and outdoor challenges is huge.
We're thrilled to introduce a holiday showcasing four of our favourite properties - a lodge at the foot of the Mayan mountain range, a rainforest resort, a coastal glamping site and a beachfront hotel - which between them offer hiking and rappelling, cycling, kayaking, stand-up paddling and snorkelling, as well as cultural experiences in the surrounding region. But you don’t have to do it all, by any means; you can choose softer, relaxing options on site such as bird watching, manatee spotting of even just sunbathing. The combination of the locations, the friendly and professionally-run properties and the range of activities brings together the elements for a really fun and exhilarating outdoor holiday.

What our clients say
97% of our clients rated their experience with us as Excellent or Good.
Most memorable experience - Sitting in the bar in Leon as the thunderstorm and wind developed and listening to the wild hand ringing of the church bell. Interesting and well informed guides talking about revolutions in Nicaragua. Trip around Lake Atitlan also made more interesting by knowledgeable guide.
A well balanced and organised trip, It gave an interesting insight into the historical, cultural, political and natural elements of the countries visited. Plus you got to stay in some great hotels.WA, Kingston
Most memorable experience? - Iguacu Falls were amazing. Boat trip under the falls and helicopter ride from the Brazilian side were truly memorable.
I thoroughly enjoyed my holiday to Brazil with JLA and was impressed with their organisation and local knowledge. Our tour guide, was excellent and went that 'extra mile' to make our holiday an enjoyable experience. During the Trogon itinerary I saw some amazing places not least, Rio de Janeiro, The Pantanal and Iguacu Falls. My private extension to Ouro Preto in Minas Gerais was also well organised and the local guides (both women) used for the private transfers looked after me very well. As a woman travelling alone it was good to know that my safety and security was a high priority.HP, Richmond
The Alcion Tour is a an excellent trip to take if you want to travel to the less travelled countries in Central America. The tour covers all the essential sites but it is the colours and flavours of the cities and towns you visit and the warmth and kindness of the people, particularly in Nicaragua, El Salvador and Honduras, that really make this a wonderful trip. There are some long journeys but it is a real opportunity to see life as it is lived by the locals. Visit beautiful islands, see amazing wildlife, try fabulous local food and enjoy these wonderful countries. It's an adventure and an experience.CP, London
Highlights? "Where to start? Angel Falls, Kaieteur Falls, the Iles de Salut, sleeping in a hammock, flying in small planes - just loved everything. The range of hotels from very high quality to pretty grotty was what we expected. The trip was exactly as described = we loved every minute!
This is our third trip - Cuba in 2000, Central America in 2009 and this one. I think the general feeling about JLA is that it is slightly more expensive than other companies offering small group tours but I think this reflects the effort which goes into providing travel experience which, in all three cases, has been both enjoyable and memorable."PS, Bolton
Lots of things, but, the statue of Christ the redeemer, iguazu falls, the tango dinner show, BOLIVIA, The group leader is a major part of the trip. A person who can bring a group of strangers together and make them join in, is worth their weight in gold?MD, Hawick
JLA is one of the best Tour Operators I have been with - nothing in the booking process was too much trouble. They stick to specialising in one continent, the staff are very knowledgeable and helpful and the tour groups small. A pity more of their competitors don't take a leaf out of their books.LS, Didcot
As always, JLA provides very experienced guides and this ensures the success of the trip. They are very knowledgeable and go out of their way to ensure clients get a great experience.VH, Australia
Overall a very enjoyable trip - some long days and early starts but was easily do-able for a group mainly consisting of people in their 50s and 60s. Saw many amazing sights. Excellent organisation - everything worked - buses, flights, pick ups, minibuses, coaches, boats, trains etc! Never arrived anywhere and there was no-one to meet us. Had a great holiday!LB, New Malden
The day we visiting the Frida Kahlo and Trotsky museums and also the canal. As well as all the wonderful pyramids and the Copper Canyon extension were among my highlights. We were very impressed with our first experience of travelling with JLA. We have been to several Central and South American countries before and had underestimated the impact that Mexico would have on us. It had such a variety of experiences to offer, the colour, the music, the many different and dramatic archeological sites and political history. The ethnic mix added to the diversity and the people were all a delight to meet. JLA allowed us to experience this in its selection of places, accommodation, excursions and especially the tour leader.JD, Buxton
Cuba is a fascinating country and JLA have pulled together a fantastic trip with excellent local guides. It exceeded my expectations and I do hope to return one day.AES, Eastbourne
"This was our third holiday with JLA and once again they did not disappoint."PP, Stafford
Everything exceeded expectations, from the printed itinerary to the excursions.SB, Mansfield
Our first trip to S. America was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Everything was very well organised and we couldn't have had a better group leader than tour leader. The local guides were very knowledgable and enthusiastic to share their country. When we booked this holiday we thought it would be our only trip to S. America, primarily to see Machu Picchu but now hearing the tour leader talk about other tours she has run we are eager to see more of the continent with JLA.FM, Aberdeen
We enjoyed all our excursions. Rio was a great start. The views from the Sugar Loaf were quite spectacular. Likewise the trips at both sides of the Iguazu Falls provided stunning scenery and of course Machu Picchu which even surpassed our epectations. Our first optional excursion was fascinating - up Corcovado. We also thoroughly enjoyed our helicopter trip over the falls, and the day trip to Potosi - a different and very interesting trip with lots to see.We also enjoyed visiting Moon Valley with its varied and interesting formations and in contrast going in to Lima. Every trip was worthwhile and enjoyable.JR, Swansea
Really it was the whole experience. A well-organised trip with lots of interesting things to see and do with people we got on well with and a knowledgeable, friendly, helpful guide.
For me, the Uros Reed Islands. I loved it. The Islands, the boat trip, the people. Incredible. Loved seeing the condors. Loved Cusco and Areequipa. Loved the cable cars. Loved Lake Titicaca. Loved the Sacred Valley. Loved Ollantaytambo.CS, Winscombe
So many things - wonderful birds, Leon was very interesting, Copan was fascinating. This is our 4th trip with JLA and we have never been disappointed.LP, Honiton
There were many wonderful memories. Iguacu was amazing and Machu Picchu was intriguing. Landscapes were fascinating & the people were friendly. Lovely to see the colourful costumes & markets.JP, Nottingham
A really interesting, varied and contrasting tour encapsulating the spirit and culture of the region. Excellent value and made even more enjoyable by a fantastic tour guide.RG, Bishopton
The boat trip, down the river, the waterfall and above all the trip, through the mango swamps and seeing the flamingos it was magical. However the archeological trips to the different pyramids were also amazing.IR, Malta
It was overall an excellent experience.
There were many highlights: Machu Picchu of course, also the Uyuni salt flats was unworldly, unique. La Paz, crazy city. Lake Titicaca beautiful. Great food almost everywhere. Stunning landscapes.MC, Ely
Most memorable experiences: “Kaieteur Falls. Angel Falls. Both a wonderful experience. The holiday was described accurately, and your staff were always extremely helpful. I am pleased to have done it and my daughter thoroughly enjoyed it as did I.”PJC, Swindon
Highlights? "There were many. Cuba itself is a fascinating country, a unique combination of geography, history, politics, culture and music. Highlights include: horse riding through the Valle de Silencio in Vinales, riding in an old American convertible car in Havana, visiting the Che Guevara Mausoleum and the Bay of Pigs Museum, numerous meals and drinks in restaurants and bars with great live music as a soundtrack to the tour, the intoxicating atmosphere walking along Obispo in Havana, a microcosm of Cuban life, the beautiful, faded architecture, different in each town we visited, the number of working horses everywhere, the resilience of Cubans in the face of grinding poverty and a repressive regime, spontaneous music performed everywhere at any time."DK, Coventry
The itinerary was fantastic and perfect for 3 weeks.AMT, Tadworth
Most memorable experience? "There were too many things but Bolivia in general and the Salt Plains in particular were amazing plus the flamingos. I also loved the night on Sun island. I never expected it to be so beautiful."JS, Leeds
It is difficult to identify a highlight as the whole trip was so varied and memorable. However, the yurt and the landscapes in Torres del Paine and Iguazu were spectacular.VP, Haywards Heath
Difficult to say as it was a trip of contrasts - two cities and some beautiful landscapes. I achieved two ambitions which was to visit the Torres del Paine National Park and to see the Perito Moreno glacier. Torres del Paine was glorious and Perito Moreno was breathtaking. All internal transfers were seamless and check in and check out of hotels were easy. The small group made the holiday feel almost personalised.TW, Hook
An extremely memorable trip, well organised, with knowledgeable and passionate guides. I'm so lucky to have had this great experience and not to have had the worry of organising it!JB, Bristol
Everyday was exhilarating and exciting. Guatemala was so colourful - the scenery, the markets, the food, the traditional dress, the flowers and birdlife. Delicious coffee! The itinerary enabled me to take in spectacular views of volcanoes, such as in Antigua and Lake Atitlan, of the Mayan ruins at Tikal and Yaxha.JH, Weybridge
Many good memories - arriving at Macchu Picchu was something we had wanted to do for many years, so was probably the most memorable.CA, Wembley
This is our 3rd trip with JLA and we look forward to our 4th. The best place to start planning holiday in South America, incredible wealth of knowledge and experience.LG, Richmond
