Estancia Cristina
Estancia Cristina is a friendly lodge in spectacular glaciated mountain scenery offering loads of outdoor activities. exploring the Patagonian landscapes.
With only snow-strewn mountains and ice fields for neighbours, historic Estancia Cristina was founded by an English pioneer in 1914. Today's guests need not endure the hardships suffered by the estancia's original sheep-rearing settlers: it's now a comfortable ranch-style lodge and a fine base from which to explore the remote corner of Los Glaciares National Park, in which it is located.
There are a number of activities to choose from: one is to head out by jeep to see the stunning surroundings and visit a viewpoint where 360° views reveal a wonderland of glaciers, lakes, Andean peaks and the Southern Patagonian ice cap. There are guided walks to lagoons and waterfalls nearby. Or you can choose to explore on horseback, or go fishing for salmon or trout.
The estancia's dramatic setting also makes it a wonderful place to relax, eat well, stay warm and absorb the real feeling of peace and isolation in this part of Patagonia. The building reflects the traditional style of ranches in Patagonia. For the exclusive use of guests, the beautiful and cosy Octagon building houses the restaurant, bar and lounge.
