Full-moon experience at Iguazú Falls
After dark, peer over the Devil's Throat at Iguazú Falls by moonlight when silvery rays illuminate the thundering cascades.
The Iguazú Falls are a magnificent, mind-boggling sight at any time, with 275 separate cascades tumbling over a jungle-fringed granite precipice. So alluring is the place that during the day the paths, walkways and look-out points are often busy with visitors.
A daytime visit is pretty much on everyone's wish list, but now you are also able to visit in a guided group after nightfall, when the national park is closed, to enjoy the privilege of drinking in the views over the falls by the haunting, silvery light of a full moon. You will travel by the park’s little eco-train to the walkways which lead to the falls’ most dramatic viewpoint, the balcony over the frothing maelstrom of the Devil’s Throat, a horse-shoe shaped cliff where the individual cascades blend into one raging cauldron of tumultuous foam. Any clouds will create watery figures of dancing light, while with luck you will see a magical moon-bow as the moon’s rays illuminates the spray in a ghostly arc. Around the water’s edge, the dark cloak of the rainforest is alive with nocturnal sounds.
There are only a few days a month when the moon is full enough to provide sufficient light; we can design your trip so that you are at that time.
