Remote and rustic lodge downriver from Iguazú Falls in an area rich with bird life.

Yacutinga Lodge lies 42km downriver from Iguazú Falls in the province of Misiones, Argentina, a region of gushing rivers and huge swathes of subtropical rainforest growing insuppressibly from the red earth. Yacutinga's buildings are constructed from local materials like stone and hardwood gathered from naturally fallen trees. The result is an attractive and rustic design that blends seamlessly with the surrounding jungle. The living is simple here and the surrounding nature is bountiful: these are some of the last remaining stands of Atlantic rainforest.

A stay at the lodge is usually combined with a visit to the world-famous falls, but it's also a richly rewarding destination in its own right. There are numerous trails that radiate from the lodge to penetrate the lush wilderness all around, and expert guides are on hand to point out ancient trees, medicinal plants, orchids, bromeliads and rare birdlife. There are also night tours into the jungle, which comes alive with activity at dusk. The cacophony of bird calls is almost deafening at sunset, and you may catch a glimpse of toucans or woodpeckers returning to their nests. The lodge has three boats to provide excursions on the upper River Iguazú. As you float silently downstream you will see its forested banks teeming with plants and, with luck, catch a glimpses of the wildlife which inhabits the ecosystem.
