Overview & Highlights
Two classic moderate hikes, the M Trek with the backdrop of Mount Fitz Roy in Argentine Patagonia and a trek at the end of the world in the uninhabited virgin territory of Tierra del Fuego.
- Guided excursion to Perito Moreno Glacier
- Hike the Fitz Roy Mountain trek
- ‘End of the World Trek’ in Tierra del Fuego
The world's best wilderness mountain treks can be hard to reach. Not so in Argentine Patagonia: world-class hiking trails are just a short drive away from the airports of El Calafate, Los Glaciares National Park, and Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego National Park. We've put two treks together, the M Trek and a hike on Tierra del Fuego, in one walking holiday with four nights' camping. This is comfortable, low intensity hiking appropriate for the weekend hiker.
The M Trek, so named after its shape, is a long recognised and popular route, renowned for its mountain views of the Fitz Roy massif, as well as vistas over glacial lagoons. The Tierra del Fuego hike is less well known or walked, which adds to its appeal. Just a few kilometres inland from the busy port of Ushuaia is a quiet wilderness of ancient forest clinging to mountain cliffs, hidden streams and views over vertiginous glaciers. Follow guanaco trails where footpaths have not yet been forged. Some peaks you’ll see are still as yet nameless. A superb trek.

What our clients say
97% of our clients rated their experience with us as Excellent or Good.
The variety of places that we visited. I enjoyed every place we visited. Food was good. Colourful towns. Friendly people. Beautiful scenery.JLK, Kenley
Crossing the first border from Panama to Costa Rica felt like being part of a film set as we trudged across an ancient bridge. Also in Ometepe we were swimming in the fresh water lake when a group of horses came cantering onto the beach and into the water for a drunk and swim!LR, Carteton
We have toured the USA, Europe and China before but the experience we had with JLA was the by far and away the best we've ever had!PD, Stockport
"Travelling across the high desert surrounded by snow topped peaks with herds of wild LLama running away from us. Then vivid pink / blue lakes appeared with flamingo feeding. This experience was the best but the salt flats are dramatic and facinating."PC, Broughton-in-Furness
Overall, the holiday was excellent. As a single traveller, it was great that the group - a mixture of couples, pairs and singles got on very well together, which added to the enjoyment. The specialist guides were very good especially our guide at Cusco, Machu Picchu and Pisac.PW, Beaconsfield
Amazing trip, fab group, experienced guide and definitely value for money. Would highly recommend.AB, London
Seeing the people on the Uros islands demonstrate how they cook, the amazing Iguassu Falls, seeing a toucan close up (at Iguassu), all the different Inca sites, seeing the traditional dress and witches market in La Paz, the herbal drinks being explained in Asuncion, sunset on sugarloaf mountain and chilling out on Ilha grande.PW, Leatherhead
All of it! Aisen is visually stunning and unforgettable. The whole thing was a great adventure we will never forget and we loved the cities as well.TO, Loughton
The Iguazu Falls were awesome. We enjoyed all the places we visited. I was recommended JLA from someone who had used them before. We were not disappointed. We have had a really good time, seen so much and had the best tour leader. I am certainly going to use them again, and really hope we have Max again. Thank you JLA.CG, Stevenage
"It was a magical experience, a well organized trip that gave me piece of mind, which is what a holiday should be. Well done Journey Latin America."LM, Arbroath
Just top notch. Great group of fellow travelers. Great tour leader. Chile was a surprise to me and in a good way. More diverse culture than I expected. People were very friendly. So glad I made the trip.JW, USA
An extremely memorable trip, well organised, with knowledgeable and passionate guides. I'm so lucky to have had this great experience and not to have had the worry of organising it!JB, Bristol
I had an absolutely wonderful holiday and saw things I had been longing to for a long time. Thank you.CK, Clacton-on-Sea
"I was particularly impressed with the scenery in Bolivia. I had expected the salt flats but the rest of the country was a real bonus. On the optional excursions, I particularly enjoyed Chacaltaya and the star gazing in San Pedro."GP, Northwich
The Alcion Tour is a an excellent trip to take if you want to travel to the less travelled countries in Central America. The tour covers all the essential sites but it is the colours and flavours of the cities and towns you visit and the warmth and kindness of the people, particularly in Nicaragua, El Salvador and Honduras, that really make this a wonderful trip. There are some long journeys but it is a real opportunity to see life as it is lived by the locals. Visit beautiful islands, see amazing wildlife, try fabulous local food and enjoy these wonderful countries. It's an adventure and an experience.CP, London
It was better than my wildest expectations, especially as value for money is very important for me and I saved 4 yrs for this trip it was worth every penny £ and $.JS, Malvern
'Untouched Aisen' is a tour which describes exactly what it is - a trip off the beaten track, away from people and exploring a truly wild and beautiful part of the world. It was my first visit to South America and a really memorable one.
The overall Pato Andino experience was truly fantastic, the sheer number of breath taking sights to marvel at was incredible. Too many [memorable moments] to list but if I had to name one then seeing Laguna Blanca as it was the first breath taking sight of the trip for me and it wasn't just the altitude.AB, Chesterfield
"Overall, the party gelled very well, the tour leader was a great guide and travelling companion we saw some wonderful sights - Machu Picchu and the other Inca sites especially. The geography of the Andes, the Salt Flats, the desert and moon valleys were stunning”JT, Ashford
"Nigh on impossible to pick out just one memory but the vastness and emptiness of the salt flats, Machu Picchu in the mist, rain and finally sun, being photo bombed by a llama, sunset over the Attacama, causing a desert traffic jam by breaking down."JH, Staines-upon-Thames
It was a wonderful trip. It was all good. In saying what I say next that is not to denigrate anything else. However, here we were at the vineyards outside Mendoza. It is a beautiful day weather-wise. We have had a fine tour of the vineyard and winery. The vineyard is itself beautiful and peaceful. Now we are in a lovely modern building for the 'lecture' and tastings. I am feeling very happy. Can it get any better? Yes. I look beyond the lecturer out of the window and there I see the beauty of the vineyard and 'just' behind that of the high Andes. Breathtaking!IM, London
I have been travelling for over half a century but his was my first organised tour and it was wonderful. As I said on my return I would go again next week if my diary was not full, I needed a rest and was not minded to spend as much again so soon.
Please describe the most memorable experience/aspect of your trip? "The first time a sea lion came up to have a good look at me when I was snorkeling in the Galapagos and played around me with such grace and freedom."LH, Hong Kong
Group tour was all memorable - for all the right reasons! A trip with JLA is a trip with the local experts. They respond quickly to challenges such as FCO advice not to visit an area and know the local people who can make the holiday really memorable. One other comment about Colombia - the people we encountered, of all ages, in the streets, shops, hotels etc were friendly, welcoming and the most polite I have met anywhere in the world!HR, Brentford
Another superb holiday with JLA I would never travel to Latin America with another company.BD, Hartlepool
An excellent well organised tour. We saw all the major Inca sites & Machu Picchu was amazing, exceeding all expectations. The Galápagos Islands at the end of the tour just blew us away.AH, Stafford
Well organised brilliant holiday. It felt like 2 holidays in one as each week was so different from the other.PS, King's Lynn
Seeing South America (Chile and Argentina) with JLA was great....a fun group and it was a wonderful way to see the best sights in some astonishing places. The people we met were great, food was excellent and some of the views!PR, Cardiff
Easter Island extension should be recommended to all. it was magical. The moai were amazing. Torres del Paine was also awe inspiring.JD, Buxton
Excellent as with the trip we did with you to Mexico last year. We have been to many countries in Latin America but only this trip and Mexico with JLA. I wish we had discovered JLA before.
A wonderful, memorable trip - so happy we chose JLA and the Condor tour - thanks to all the team, and to the tour leader especially. The itinerary was really well thought out and the Bolivia part was an unexpected bonus! This was my first ever visit to Latin America, and our first ever experience of a group tour. I m sure we will be doing both again with JLA.HS, London
Excellent as usual! I like the small groups, the local guides and drivers, the home stays, private home restaurants.MP, Seaton
It was, in short, an unqualified success in all important ways. The local guides set a remarkably high standard in being knowledgeable, articulate and generally helpful, two or three of them outstandingly so. None of the hotels was less than comfortable and/or notable for its outlook and general amenities; those in Nicaragua and El Salvador were probably the best, while the Guatemalan and Belizean accommodation was betrayed only at times, mainly by the food it served. We took away an enormous variety of impressions, ranging from the sense of insecurity and awe created by all those volcanoes; through the surprise at the comparative sophistication and well-being superficially apparent in El Salvador and the interest in seeing potters, weavers, farmers and conservationists at work; to the ultimate satisfaction experienced through that artful blend of the natural with the man-made worlds characterising the Mayan sites of Guatemala and Honduras, most notably at Copán and Tikal which were the obvious highlights of the tour.TD, Oxford
