At Journey Latin America we strive to be a responsible business, seeking to have a positive social and environmental impact throughout Latin America and at home.
We believe that, when done well, tourism can be a force for good. By identifying and supporting responsible and sustainable practices locally, we aim to travel positively: promoting the protection of the biodiverse regions and culturally rich communities we visit.
Human Rights and Modern Slavery
We recognise the responsibility we share with our partners to operate ethically, so encouraging fair working conditions is part of our strategy to act in a socially responsible manner.
We are committed to ensuring we are not complicit in the exploitation or abuse of people throughout our supply chain, and that human rights values are upheld in all we do.
As such, we have developed our Human Rights & Modern Slavery policy based on the principles outlined within the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights.
Child safeguarding encompasses protecting children from all forms of harm including: online abuse; neglect and negligent treatment; emotional abuse; physical abuse; sexual abuse and exploitation; and commercial exploitation.
We have developed a Child Safeguarding policy to ensure we remain conscious of the risks to children, to raise awareness to our customers and partners, and to implement safeguarding measures across all areas of our operation.
Our comprehensive Human Rights & Modern Slavery and Child Safeguarding policies aim to:
- Respect and protect the people and communities we encounter throughout our operation.
- Advocate and educate responsible tourism practices.
- Pledge a zero-tolerance approach to human rights and child safeguarding abuses throughout the supply chain.
- Provide good practice guidelines highlighting the standards we expect on the ground.
- Encourage staff, clients and local representatives to monitor and report any concerns.
- Specify a dedicated point of contact within Journey Latin America to oversee and develop our approach.
