Travel Consultants
A Computer Science graduate, Paul spent seven months after university travelling from Colombia to Argentina and came home hooked on the continent. He quickly earned a place in our Tailor-made Holidays team where he now channels his extensive experience into creating equally memorable trips for our clients.

His favourite places in Latin America include Quito, capital of Ecuador, where he spent a considerable amount of time learning Spanish – something he highly recommends in order to facilitate a deeper connection with the people and culture of Latin America. He also loved the Uyuni Salt Flats of Bolivia for their surreal beauty and the adventurous Lost City jungle trek in Colombia. Since joining Journey Latin America, his travel focus has shifted to Central America where he has now also travelled extensively. A memorable self-drive trip around Costa Rica and overland journey through Guatemala’s traditional highlands and into quirky Belize (where fondly remembers snorkelling with a school of enormous Stingrays) stand out.

My favourite place in Latin America

I'd have to say the Uyuni salt flats in Bolivia and the Atacama Desert in Chile are two of my favourite places: travelling from the surreal expanse of sparkling salt flats in Bolivia to the dry desert landscape of the Atacama was an unforgettable experience!

My top tips

Visit Uruguay in early March to catch the country in a lull between the peak seasons of February and Easter. The weather will still be great and there should be fewer tourists resulting in a more peaceful atmosphere and a better chance of securing your first choice hotels.

Head to the Aprazível Restaurant in Rio for some amazing food and great views – the perfect place to sit and enjoy sunset over this iconic city.

If you have the time, try to get over to the eastern side of Cuba: this part of the island has seen fewer international visitors and you'll find an overall more authentic experience.
