one of our favouite hotels

Brazil: Florianopolis: Ponta dos Ganchos

Ponta dos Ganchos is a relaxed top-of-the-range resort on the verdant South Brazil coast.  The hotel is set on a forested peninsula with fantastic 180 ° vistas of the ocean and a small, sandy cove that’s ideal for bathing in Summer (November to March).

A cluster of 25 very private villas are set amid pine trees and landscaped gardens. We especially love the sumptuous da vila bungalows which have their own plunge pool, sauna and Jacuzzi, as well as enjoying dazzling ocean views.

Attention has been paid to detail throughout the resort: the massage room for example, is a white tent in the middle of trees overlooking the bay and the indoor pool is kept clean by an innovative method where no chlorine is added, so the feel is of fresh water.

Golf carts are available to take you around to avoid  the steep walks; and the restaurant has a changed daily and creative menu. Service is friendly though little English is spoken.

Florianópolis is Brazil's summer playground for the wealthy and chic. After a 'second honeymoon' at Ponta dos Ganchos, Jill Starley Grainger tells Harper's Bazaar why. See her article first published in our online magazine Papagaio. Paradise Found

Our Comment

There is plenty of privacy in your room and around the hotel grounds. The atmosphere of the hotel is relaxed and the service attentive but not overbearing..
