Córdoba: Estancia El Colibri

Just 45 mins’ drive from Córdoba airport, this attractive family-owned property, Estancia el Colibri,  offers the creature comforts of a sophisticated hotel but with the traditional hospitality and personalised approach you might expect to find at an Argentine estancia.

Antique English pinotea wooden floors – around 200 years old - are a feature of all guest rooms, whilst traditional Cordobés algorroba wood block flooring has been assembled in the lounge. From the outside El Colibrí looks a little like a Mexican hacienda; however, the interior of the hotel is painted dazzling white, with vaults and domes, resembling the inside of a Jesuit mission church, a theme which is enhanced by high-beamed ceilings, antique oil paintings and ornate furnishings.

There are just 9 rooms and suites with fireplaces, a spa where you can luxuriate in the Jacuzzi, Finnish sauna or Turkish bath, and an ample swimming pool with views of the mountains.

You can come here just to relax, but you will probably be tempted away from this pampering by the activities on offer: the estate has 60 horses and there are also opportunities for mountain biking and bird-watching. The Jesuit churches nearby are worth a visit.

All these activities are included; optional extras include golf at 3 nearby courses and wider visits to the Córdoba region.

Our Comment

No expense has been spared in the construction of El Colibrí. It’s a lavish property which has been painstakingly designed and the French owners deserve enormous praise for this. The attention to detail in its décor and layout is impressive and there are numerous fine touches.
