Nestled in a luscious valley within the green mountains of western Belize, this smart little hotel offers a very high standard of service and amenities.
The Cayo District, where this low-key but well-appointed hotel is located, is a region of clear, meandering rivers, lush jungles, green hillsides, thundering waterfalls, and huge cave systems.
Two of Belize's most important Mayan ruins are here, and a pine ridge forest to explore. It's rich with wildlife and a favoured destination for ecotourists.
The Ka'ana Boutique Resort is built in a traditional style but defers to a sharp contemporary design with clean lines and modern accoutrements. The accent is more on providing a luxury accommodation than providing a genuine "immerse yourself in the jungle" experience.
There are only 15 rooms, fully air-conditioned. A lot of thought and attention has been put into Ka'ana, which is evident from the decoration, finishes and little touches. It is well-managed and the staff seems very attentive. There are huge bathrooms and rooms are well-equipped with flat screen TV and espresso coffee makers.
There is a stylish restaurant, swimming pool and spa in which to relax after a day spent out of doors.
Adventure seekers will be enticed by the many options nearby, which include Mayan ruins, cave exploration, nature trails, jungle tours, canoeing, tubing, zip-lining and horseback riding.
Our Comment
Excellent for those who appreciate fine wines and cuisine. It will suit you if you want to experience the rainforest but prefer to leave the jungle outside when going to sleep.
