About Our Hotels

Hotel Monasterio, Cusco, Peru
We are pleased to be able to offer a vast range of accommodation to choose from for your Latin American holiday, from first class luxury hotels through to basic hostels.

Latin America has an every improving tourist infrastructure, especially accommodation.

In cities and towns across the continent you’ll find everything from luxury conversions from colonial mansions and palaces through first class international hotels, very decent mid-range options often locally owned, through to excellent budget choices.

In both town and country small, characterful, traditional style accommodation is widely available, frequently called posadas (pousadas in Brazil). There’s also been an explosion recently in the opening of charming and elegant boutique hotels.

Beach locations now offer a range of resorts and spas, alongside eco-lodges.

In jungle locations we offer a range of eco-friendly lodges with good conservation practice and positive relations with the local community.

In the countryside there are good quality properties on long-standing estates:  ranches (estancias) offering riding and other activities or general relaxation, or vineyards where you can sample rapidly improving New World wines.

The accommodation here is  listed in each country section by region/town, in alphabetical order; so for hotels in Cusco you'd look in Peru and scroll down to those beginning with the letter C. You can also filter by Style.

We don’t classify the properties by quality on our website, though you can rest assured that they are of a good standard within their class, and our preferred options.

Once you have asked us for a proposal, we will give you more details of the accommodation we think will suit you personally; we will classify them as follows below. We don’t use the countries’ own star ratings as these often conflict with UK expectations but we have used our long experience to categorise them according to our own assessment, based on inspection in the field by our staff.

  • First class superior: Top of the range with a special feature such as historical context or spectacular setting.
  • First class:  Top quality with a full range of facilities
  • Tourist class superior:  Medium class but with a good range of facilities and a special attraction such as historical context or   good location
  • Tourist class: Comfortable, clean, well-located, good service.
  • Simple hotels and guesthouses:  Few facilities but usually with private bathroom, often small and family-run.
  • Basic hotel:  Hostels and other rudimentary options in isolated rural locations.
